another food question hello to you all again. i know i have posted about food before but i have another stupid question. can you feed yorkies sweetcorn?? it is just mickey is getting really fussy about his food.my dh and i had my mum and dad staying for a few weeks and being the doting granparents that they are, started giving mickey and bella little treats of our food and now he isnt that intrested in his proper food and i am worried about him not getting hie proper vitamins and minerals from his own food. so now i have to mix bits of chicken or ham or something through his food. i have frozen bags of steamed carrots, peas and sweetcorn together that you microwave so was wondering if this would be ok or not. just think veg is healthier. he is nearly 8mth. sorry about long post. thanks x |

Sweet corn doesn't really have any nutritional value, and it's difficult for them to digest. You may notice that things like sweet corn "go right through them" if you know what I mean ;) Stick to carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, and zucchini-all are easier for them to digest. |
I give mine peas and carrots every day. Corn is a little hard to digest. I would give it in small amounts until you see how it is tollerated. |
thanks will try that then.running out of healthy ideas to give him. |
Corn is okay but not best. It is a major allergen. If your dog likes to swallow and not chew, I would make sure it is fine because it won't really break down otherwise (as far as I know). Please never give ham. It is way too high in salt and it can tend to be very fatty. It is just not a good food for Yorkies. You may be able to do regular pork though. |
I give my baby veggies alll the time. She likes them all (except for Cucumbers). Try some: brocolli (boiled or steamed and cut up really small) Carrots celery sweet peppers lettuce a little bit of tomatoes are ok ive given her cauliflower as well but i think it made her gassy (not good) i think as long as you try with just a little at a time to see if his tummy is ok with it... any veggie is fine except onions, garlic, hot pepper and maybe corn |
thanks to you all for your replies.wont give them anymore ham then. got lots of great advice so have something else to try them with.meal times are beginning to be a nitemare.thanks again xxx |
