dog fighting profiled on CSI last night  Anyone else watch CSI last night? They had a show about dog-fighting and it upset me to watch it....they bait the fighting dogs with little dogs and cats and all the animals are treated so horridly... I've been familiar with dog rings (especially here in the south) for some time now...I only hope the Michael Vick thing will prompt better legislation... It suprises me how folks will give away the "free" puppies and kittens not knowing this is where some of them wind up. roxanne |
I know we watched it too, it upset me when they threw that poodle puppy in there. I had no idea they did that, why don't stars like britney, paris & some of the others who claim to be pet lovers use their power to bring attention to things like this but I think we all know the answer to that. |
I watched that too and it bothered my husband & I that they use little dogs to feed them to get the "taste" in them. My husband literally held Sophie and said "Can you believe they feed little Sophie's to those dogs... that is HORRIBLE" That poor kid that killed her was OBVIOUSLY upset by this ladies actions. I know it is just a show but brings it home. |
i saw it too and i have to admit, i was not watching closely but have noticed that when certain stories make big national news, a similar story line shows up on certain shows (CSI being one of them) ... it made me sad too but i thought the point of them showing it was to bring awareness to the situation...so people who just hear about dog fighting but do not really know what it means can familiarize themselves with it and hopefully be shocked enough to try and make a difference in STOPPING it... JMO but i am hoping this is why they showed it :( |
dog fighting Not sure where "Tuttle" is in Oklahoma...we lived in Fairfax and I worked in Ponca City OK... Are there a lot of dog fighting rings there...I don't remember (many years ago) them being mentioned on the TV like they are here... I know there are a lot of puppy mills there (as there are here). I hope the state is getting better on regulation By the way..I love CSI...and I'm glad they brought in out for attention....Peterson (Grissom) is a big dog lover. roxanne |

I'm glad they did it. Perhaps some of the Vick/other despicable dog fighter - supporters just didn't understand how horrendous it is. Maybe they saw the show and it changed their viewpoint a bit. So freaking sad................................... But all those dogs that are killed??? They are all waiting for people like us at the Rainbow Bridge!! |
I watched it too and I was sooo sad! when they through the little poodle. Or when they show a little chihuahua. Also they the dogs were fighting, it was horrible, then the one that lost was lying on the floor, all bloody... and his eyes!!!! oh those eyes!!!! it broke my heart :( . I can't believe people do that!!!!!! |
I watched it too. I think the show uses stories in the headlines. But I hope people who didn't know about dogfighting will now be more aware. I do not like people giving animals away for free because they could end up like the little poodle on the show. And it won't change any dogfighters mind to watch things like that. They see it everday. They are not affected by it as we are. This is their way of life. There are many sites online about dogfighting. Dogfighters use slang words when they post dogs for sale so other dogfighters will know what kind of fighter the dog is and the pedigree. It is a big business all over the country. I was really glad someone like Vick got caught and prosecuted so it put it in the spotlight. And most fighting dogs that are seized are put down because of their aggression. The only reason Vick's dogs are not being put down is because the case is so high profile. |
I watched it too ,that was so sad when they put that poodle in with that dog so the dog can get a taste of blood  |
I'm glad I missed it. Some people are so cruel. How can you just sit around and watch a poor defenseless dog ripped to pieces, and call it a sport. I think they should put the people who do this in the middle of the ring, and let the dogs tear them apart. |
I saw it and had to close my eyes and turn down sound.. i actually cried... how sad that people are that cruel to other living things... |

I'll bet it was a hard show for him to do then. |
It was so sad watching it last night and I couldnt help but be happy the boy killed that awful lady and I know that is wrong of me to think that way. Im glad that CSI did a show about the dog fighting - more people need to see that this goes on so we can do something about it. |
That stuff honestly makes me sick  I always think of it as "If i were a dog i would not like being put into that kind of a situation" thing |
I couldn't watch it...I started watching it and I just couldn't handle it, and I have a pretty strong stomach (having studied forensics...). Anything involving abuse or violence with animals or children, I just can't handle... :( |
I watached it too and it made me sick. Like you Shana, I was glad the boy killed that lady. |
I watched as well... I thought it was pretty disturbing to see how these dogs are treated. Then to know that if they are rescued, they are still put down because their so aggresive... Sad situation in deed :( |
I watched it too. It was hard to take but even harder to believe that there truly are placing out there like that:( I'm glad the woman was killed in the same way she treated the dogs. |
I didn't see it, i prob. would have cried. |
Lately I have been asking myself why I watch shows like this, yes it brings awareness. I would never want to watch a dog fight or be part of anything like this. But here I sit and watch csi and all the foul things they show, is it really entertainment. When a show causes me to lose sleep I think not. I also think about all the children whos parents do not restrict what they watch or let them play in the same room where something like this is on, believing they are not paying attention. |
I fell asleep on it and wanted to watch it - I'm just glad the tv shows that are popular are putting the spotlight on a HORRIBLE DISGUSTING so called 'sport' - it's sickening and I hope since Michael Vick got prosecuted they ALL Get prosecuted and people start reporting it rather than sitting back thinking they can't do anything. I'm glad I didn't see the poodle part - I would have been crying too even thought it's a show - it happens alot more than we know. Too many of these people go unpunished and unreported. |
Argh!! I watched the first few seconds, and as soon as I saw those poor dead babies in the opening scene, I had to leave the room. I could not even read some of the posts here where I saw the word "Poodle".:( I just can't have that image in my head, whatever terrible thing happened to them. I am a total and complete wimp when it comes to cruelty involving animals - I cannot watch it or listen to details at all.:(:(:( I do think it is a good thing though, that CSI took such a shocking trend such as dogfighting out of the headlines,to highlight the absolute horrors of this sickening "sport". ANYONE involved in this in any way (including those sick "audiences"), should be locked up and the key thrown away!!! Sorry for the rant, but this really upsets me. Lauren |
