Runaway We just survived a real scary event: While my wife and I were out of town and entrusting our Yorkie to my mother-in-law, we got a message on the cell phone that Eddie had freaked out when a neighbor was popping off fireworks and ran away. The mother in law swears he somehow kicked down the portable fence. I'm not sure I believe her, but he was gone for 5 hours. Oh man, we got so lucky. He took off at 1:30 a.m. and returned to the house at 6 a.m., barking at the front door. I feel like erecting a 10-foot steel door in front of our house. |
I am so happy to hear he came back. We just went through the same thing with my niece's 3 month old beagle pup. She got out of a yard that was completely privacy fenced. They left the gate open in hopes she would come home and she did. I think they both realized how good they had it at home! I don't know how big your baby is but Sophie is 10 lbs. and when we put a gate up we have to put one on top of the other. We even have to angle the top gate forward so she can't climb out. The little escape artist. If your baby was the one who got the gate open you will probably have to be even more careful to keep him in. Sophie got over the gate one time and that was all it took. From then on we can't hardly keep her in. I hope for your sake it was just an accident. I can see from your avatar that Eddie is adorable. |
OMG! That had to be a traumatic time! Know how relieved you must be. You never really know what fear is until something like this happens to them. |
That is too scary! But I bet he was scared, too! You are lucky that he was able to find his way back home. |
