Sure--- can you put your baby in the trunk? I'm allergic to children. |
I actually banished my babies to the garage on Thanksgiving this year because someone had allergies. It was a first for me but I did spend most of my time in the garage with them so they didn't mind. I love my babies but this time it really was the right thing to choose a person over them for the 4 hours she was at our home. There are exceptions to the rule BUT normally I would not banish my babies for anyone......... |
I usually ask if Lacy is welcome before I take her to anyone's house. But once she's been allowed once, I don't normally continue to ask..I guess I just assume if it was okay the first time or two then it's fine to continue bringing her. If I am going to stay overnight at a friend's house, I always make sure they are okay with me bringing Lacy. So far I haven't been told no, but if I was then I wouldn't stay with that person. Lacy is my baby and goes where I go...so if she's not welcome to stay somewhere then it's just not possible for me to stay there either. When I do take Lacy somewhere I try to watch her like a hawk. I take her out to potty often so we don't have accidents, and I take her crate so I can put her in it if we leave the house and she's not running loose in their house. If I'm just visiting for a bit, I usually try to hold her the whole time unless I know the person is fine with her running around, esp. if they have a dog she can play with too. Those stories seemed pretty outrageous...those dogs were not being supervised or made to mind at all by their owners. That is just wrong. If I take Lacy somewhere I try to make sure she behaves and isn't being a nuisance. I guess it's the same with children though...I hate when parents let their children run wild and be a nuisance...parents need to make sure their kids behave when they visit someone...just like I need to make sure my dog behaves. Now, if someone comes to MY house to visit, they better respect my pet. It is my home and my pets' home. If they don't like my pets or like my pets being around, they can stay somewhere else! |

Oh, and whoever it was that said people bring their kids by without asking...they just assume it's okay. I agree! Not everyone loves kids or wants them in their house. You should never assume a child is welcome to an event or party either! |

One time my aunt came and wanted to give attitude about my parents pitbull and shih tzu. First off my parents smoke and it's their house so if they choose to then that is their business. My aunt knows that my parents have pets. So if you want to stay your welcome but the dogs and the smoke isnt' going anywhere. The last visit she was grumbling about the dogs and shooing them out of the bedroom and trying to lock them on the deck. Now the second/guest bedroom belongs to the dogs. My sisters are in the basement apt so the dogs have that second room to themselves and mom has her crafts in there. I was glad that my mom saw her behaviour and told her well if you unhappy about the dogs and the smoke then you can easily go to a hotel. But I think that took nerve to ask to stay at someone's house and inconvenience them and then want to be mean to the pets and make comments. |
That was a good article. I'm surprised that there are people out there that are so completely inconsiderate as to bring their furbabies to social functions without asking first. I would never dream of doing so. We've got two furbabies and would not be happy if everyone I knew brought their furbabies without asking, considering how many of our friends and family members that have pets, us humans would be outnumbered and I'd be scared for my Bella's safety! |

I sometimes run into problems finding care attendants for my multi-challenged dauther (total care), as so many people don't want to work around dogs! Well, I just tell them "I'm sorry, but, I can't get rid of my dogs...they're Hannah's family, too", and they can kindly hit the road. |
