Leather ear/cold ear question for suggestions. When I first got Mr. Big he was a tiny puppy. When he grew up he didn't have much if any hair on his ears. I didn't think it was leather ear cause everyone said it was supposed to feel slimy. His ears just felt smooth. You may not like this part: I used to sit and nibble or chew on his ears because they felt cold. After a while I found his hair was growing back so I started to scrub on them whenever I gave him a bath. I would also sit and massage his ears and I still do. Now he has sparse hair on his ears and it is winter again. How/what can I do to keep his ears warm? I thot about making him a cap but then it would crush his ears down and I don't want him thinking that I don't want his ears to stand. I thot about putting petroleum jelly on his ears to protect them from getting cold but I am afraid that it might clog the pores again and cause the hair to fall out. Any suggestions? Anyone? Thanks in advance for any helpful hints or tips. Sylvia |
Sylvia get some tea tree oil or the tea tree oil shampoo from petco/petsmart etc and wash the ear. Lex had a touch of that on his ear when I got him. I treated it with that and it went away. He is not outside that long that his ears will get very cold. Plus their coats are so thin anyways it's not like it will have much protection anyhow if he did have all his hair. |
