Dandruff, Dry Skin?? HI, I need some advice on Puppy shampoo. My Cassius is 6 mos old and I am currently using Pet Silk shampoo's and conditioners. I make sure that he is thoroughly rinsed before he gets towel dried and blow dried. I also put a leave in conditioner and a tiny bit of Pet Silk on his coat for the final touches. He get bathed 1x a week, but he gets comed, brushed and lightly conditioned every night. Yesterday was bath day. Everything went wonderfully, however whewn I came home this evening, there was the dandruff on and in his coat again. Because of his dry skin, all of the products Iuse are all natural and are moisturizing. Has anyone ever had this problem and if so, can you please share with me how you solved it. His adult hair is growin in so beautiful and I don't want to damage it. Oh, he also rolls around on the floor after each grooming session. Is this normal? Thank you  |
I do not know what to tell you about the dry skin and dandruff. Riley had it badly, but we switched to an oatmeal and baking soda shampoo and conditioner and it cleared up. I can tell you that Riley likes to roll on the floor after being brushed and bathed also. He hates to be towel-dried. He just does it himself. He runs around the house rolling himself around on the ground to dry off. It is actually very amusing to watch! :D |
I had a problem with Chanel itching from being in the hose so much last year - I tried Veternarians Best Moisture Mist SKIN Conditioner - it's at Petco - It's NOT a hair conditioner - it's for the skin. It cleared up her itchies in less than 24 hours - she did NOT have dandruff - just itchy dry skin from playing in the water so much - but I swear it worked great ! Poor itchy baby - Oatmeal Shampoos are also good for Dry Skin - |
oatmeal shampoo & anti-itch I used Comfy Dog Oatmeal Conditioning Shampoo for Dry & Itchy Skin. My dog stops itching immediatly-- it works really well and smells yummy! Also, we use an anti itch spray called Flea The Scene--it's an all natural insect repellent with sunscreen that's also an anti itch spray--works well... www.happytailsspa.com |

Horray.... Thank you so much RED98VETT for the advice. I already had the Veternarians Best Moisture Mist Skin Condditioner, I just never tried it on him. I though if I kept switching things, I'd make it worse. I also stopped using the leave in conditioner every day. I switched to every other day and on the off days, I used a Mink Oil mist, lightly on his coat, Things are looking up.....;O) ;) |
When I brought my baby home she had that problem too. (It was almost like cradle cap with an infant) When I took her for shots the vet gave me somethig called Humilac and I haven't had any more problems with her. (Of course I have only had her a few days...but she's cleared up. :) |
