Is pushing dangerous? Our Skippy isn't thrilled with Gabby-12 weeks old- he's gotten alot better as far as barking and drooling, he even lets her paw at his head and sniff him...but now he's starting to push her around with his head- he is 18 pounds of 4 yr old boy. I don't know what he's up to when he does this so I intervene by picking her up and yelling "no!" at him. Any suggstions? Is this behavior that says biting is next?:2omg: |
Pleeze :( bumping myself--anyone ever have the same thing happen? |
my grandma's shih tzu does that to Lily a lot. They get along really well but sometimes Panda (the shih tzu) will start pushing her around just like you described! I don't really worry about it since they aren't together 24/7 and it doesn't seem agressive. I don't have any advice except to just keep telling Skippy 'no!'. |
Our 4 year old black lab Dixie does this to Koda too. I was kind of worried at first, but realized it was just Dixie's way of playing with Koda. Hopefully this is what's going on with your little ones too :) |
It sounds like that's his way of playing with her. I'd keep a close eye on them and keep them seperated when you're not home, until you are positive that he won't bite her when she gets on his nerves. Be careful of yelling at him about being rough wiht the baby, it could have the opposite effect. He'll see her as the source of your being upset and could take it out on her. I'm not an expert by any means, but calmly (in your "I'm serious" voice) telling him "no" will be a lot more effective than yelling. That's just my opinion, and experience with my two girls. The point you're trying to convey gets lost in their fright at the yelling. |
Sounds like that's his way of playing with her. Just keep an eye on them, and make sure it doesn't progress to an undesirable behavior. |
