Hoping to learn I just found this board. I actually don't own a real Yorkie, we got a Silky Terrier puppy last March and she is the sweetest, dearest little dog. However, I can't find anywhere where people talk about these little dogs. They are actually part Yorkshire Terrier, and in fact my dog is about the same size as some Yorkies (she's about 9 pounds). I was hoping to learn about care and hopefully someday breeding of little dogs like her, we'd like her to have one litter of puppies. So, I hope I'm not kicked off the board for not having an actual Yorkie!! |
Of course you won't be kicked off. Welcome. One of my good friends has a silky and that is why I got Murfee 'cause I loved Molly so much. |
Welcome to YT! Post some pics of your Silky, we would love to see them! |
Welcome to YT! There are several YT members that don't own yorkies yet. It's not a rule that you have to actually own a yorkie - anyone can be a member. You'll learn a lot of info here for toy breeds in general. |

Welcome to YT!:) |
Welcome to YT! I have a friend who has a Silky too....they seem to be very much like Yorkies and that's a VERY good thing:D . Post pics if you can; we'd love to see them! |
Thank you! 1 Attachment(s) Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. I am so happy to be able to read about others with little dogs similar to mine, and see all the darling pictures. I think I finally figured out how to attach a photo, so I'm including one of our sweet little silky. This was taken during a family vacation in October. She is 10 months old in the picture, and weighs 9 pounds. Her name is Cho Cho. We didn't even consider a Yorkie when we got her, because although they are adorable, I was under the impression they were all tiny little petite dogs. I wanted something a little bigger for my kids age 9 to 13, for the safety of the dog. It has recently come to my attention (the thread about bigger Yorkies) that many Yorkies are this same size, if not bigger! |
Wow he's beautiful...he looks all yorkie. Welcome to YT!!! |
yup yorkies come in diff sizes there are quite alot of ppl on here who have silkies and yorkies |
I have two male Silkies and they are the best dogs (beside Yorkies of course)...we also have two female yorkies and got our first male Silky (Captain) about a year ago and then a couple of months ago another male Silky (Frankie) came to live with us while I show him in the ring for the next year. We have fallen in love with the Silky breed as much as we love our Yorkies...they are so sweet and loyal!! We are memebers of the Silky List that is mentioned above and it is great group of Silky owners who participate in everything from therapy dogs to agility dogs to show dogs and of course those who just LOVE the breed. I would defintely suggest you join... Welcome to YT!! I hope you find this site so useful, we love to learn new things all the time that help us with our yorkies and our silkies!! |
Welcome to Yt, your baby is beautiful, and she looks as good as a yorkie can be...you will learn lots on this forum. Enjoy your stay...pooh's mum |
