A warning for those whose babies go to work with them! Hi, I mostly lurk I admit but wanted to share this. It really was scary. Chewy goes with me everyday to our shop. It is an 12,000 sq ft antique store takes two buildings. Chewy has gone with me since he came to be ours. He has always had the run of the place. Tuesday morning he was his normal terrorist self I went to lunch for an hour came back and after a few minutes I asked where he was, my girl (luv her to death) said hes been sleping over under a table(nowhere near the heater odd yes) so I called him and lets just say it was bad. No response, not to calling, checked him over real close like pulled his legs, they stood straight out no reflex went straight to the vet. Now this sounds weird cause medicine costs so much one would think no one would lose them but we have found weird little pills before. When we got to the vet his heart rate was so slow and temp so low he was almost gone (in one hour). The vet thinks he found either a high heart rate med or an anti-anxiety med. Luckly I reacted fast cause he made it (whew) I have had the same vet for years and never saw the kind of worry he had when I brought Chewy in. Today hes about back to normal tires out fast, but please be careful if you take your baby out everyday. With as much space as we have it is almost impossible to check everyday. I normallt dawdle call DH and make sure I should take my furbabies or skin kids. If I had waited this time it would have been to late. |
Oh my goodness, what a terrible scare. Wow, he's lucky to have a mom like you who is so quick on her feet. Marcus goes to work with me everyday to the office. We are all really careful of what we drop on the floor but he is still restrained to my office alone. My biggest fear is that he will find a staple on the floor (our cleaning people are really messy when emptying out the trash cans and drop stuff on the floor all the time without picking it up). Thank you for sharing you story as a warning to us all. I'm glad that he was ok after it all. |
Glad Chewy is fine, I have run a kid day care and dog day care my rule was all purse go on to of the refrigerator. My mother is going blind...I vaccume everywhere before I let Mya roam. Once I found 7 pills under the sofa. Scary for the great grandkids crawling around too ! |
So happy he is fine. That could of turn out bad. |
It was aweful scary have always had dogs and have never seen one go down so fast. Course never had a six pounder either. |
I am happy he feels better now. You were so lucky, this has happened to me as well but reacted in time and manadge to save my baby boy. This is a good post |
I am so glad your Chewey is ok!!! Thanks for sharing! |
Thanfully, he is okay. I am always worried at work and keep a watchful eye on Jesse. Coworkers are always dropping bits of food and who knows what else on the floor. Plus, my bosses often bring their young kids to the office and they are always dropping candy and chocolate on the floor. You have to be very careful in any environment that you are unsure of. |
What a scary event. I'm glad you got him to the vet in time and he came through! :) |
I'm glad it all turned out ok for you. |
I'm glad Chewey is o.k. but this could also be a lesson for at home. I was thinking about this very thing last night. My husband takes heart medicine and they're very tiny...they would be hard to find if I dropped one. I'm very careful when I fill his med container and I always put the gate across the door just in case. Little Yorkies can be very fast to grab anything that hits the floor. |
No purses on the floor either; these little ones can get sick on meds, make-up, anything they find in your purse. |
I am so glad Chewy is ok. Good idea, last week I was emptying my thyroid meds out of the container (new bottle) to get all the moisture control stuff out of the bottle and dropped a few on the floor. I told my girls to sit (thank goodness they listened) then picked them up and put them outside my room while I found the pills, then vacumed to make sure I got them all. They are so curious it only takes a min for them to get into trouble. |
wow, that is scary! Poor little guy! Thank God you acted so quickly though and got him to the vet. I would worry about someone dropping illicit drugs or something and him ingesting it. Maybe he should be limited to where he can go (like a little doggie playpen or something)? It would be harder for him having less freedom but it might be worth it to keep him safe? I'm so glad that he is recovering! |
I'm so glad that he's okay! That must have had your heart in your throat:( Maybe when you can\'t watch him closely, he could hang out in an xpen or something? They\'re not too expensive and you\'d KNOW he was safe there. I wonder what he got into? These little ones are so danged clever |
