Anyone use Petsmart Banfield
 

Have you used Banfield as your Vet? do you have a teacup or regular Yorkie? Sorry if my language is not correct, I am new!

I only used then once to get Cali's nails trimmed because my sisters friend works there and I needed her nails cut badly.

I use them, but Im contemplating changing. Precious is only 2months + a few days old and he is already wanting to spay her! I posted a thread about this on here and everyone was in a general concensus that 2mths is way too early! And when they gave her the 1st set of booster vaccinations, they did the full exam (think its the wellness program they offer) and really worked her over! They told me she would be sore, but I couldnt even carry her out (I refuse to put her on a leash where bigger dogs are present!) I bought a fluffy dog bed that had gel in the mattress to place her in so I could walk her to the truck! I was upset greatly!

10 weeks is not necessarily too early. Like I said before, most new vets are spaying earlier...it's mostly the older vets that stick to the traditional "6 months" thing. I've never used Banfield but I'm applying for a job at one of their hospitals this summer. From everything I've learned about their facilities, they are up-to-date with the latest equipment, newest technology, and have good vets.

To the OP - just FYI - there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. A yorkie is a toy breed and there is only one size. The standard says they can be up to 7lbs. You'll see them from 1-20lbs though...some are smaller than normal and some grow larger than normal. But a yorkie is just a yorkie

We enrolled in the Wellness program at my local Banfield. I really like ours actually. Included in the program are all of the shots for the first year, the entire spay surgery (includes all the bloodwork etc), and free office visits. I think total it cost me about $325, so it definitely pays for itself. I don't know if we will stay with them beyond our first year though because their prices, generally, are higher than other vets. I've done a bunch of comparison fees on things between my Banfield and our other local vets.

I do also think that your experience will depend greatly on WHO the vet is IN your Banfield. There is only so much that can be controlled on a corporate level. It sounds to me like you went to a bad one, if your pup was that sore after a routine exam! Jeez! I happen to really like the vets at the Banfield we go to, and to me that makes all the difference.

Just today I took Violet for a pre-op appointment (she is getting spayed on Monday)... not something I had to do, but I just wanted to meet with the vet prior again, to ask my questions, get an overall check up, have him look at her teeth etc... They were glad to do this, and it cost me nothing. And I feel so much better about putting my baby in their hands when they treat us this way.

Again I think your banfield experience depends almost entirely on who the docs are. You've GOT to feel comfortable with your vet, just like you would with a human doc. I'd shop elsewhere on this one.

It all depends on what Banfield it is. There are some good ones but there are some really bad ones. Google it. I prefer privately owned vet offices. You also need to be careful what they anesthnetize with if they do surgery. One person here said their Banfield uses something that they should not be. Please be careful.

I used Banfield for 4 years when I lived in California. I loved it, and am actually really bummed they are not here where I live now. I think the wellness plans are a much better deal than other pet insurance which I now have since I have no banfield available. I saved several thousand dollars on my aging pet the last few years thanks to our plan.

My dr was great. Always spent a lot of time with me and my baby when we'd go in. All the vet techs were also great. Any time I called and said I needed to come in they'd see me that day. These days it takes me at least 3 weeks to get into the vet.

its all about the vet thats there... they are a little expensive, but the wellness plans are usually worth it. i work at petsmart and i dont take my dogs there... but every banfeild is different.

I've never used them, besides to get a lost dog scanned for a chip....
