Best Way To Keep Newborn Yorkies Warm? We are expecting a litter of Yorkies around December 22nd and I am open for any suggestions on the best way to keep them warm, approximately 80 degrees. I definetely do not want to have the heat on in our entire house at this temp. Are there any particular heaters or special lights that anyone can suggest or recommend? Any suggestions at all for the whelping process I would love to hear, as this is our first litter of Yorkies. We are so exited!:animal-pa :animal-pa |
I use a heating pad in their whelping box and keep the heat in my home up just abit till they are older and can regulate their body temperature on their own. |
I take a round bed with deep sides, I clothes pin a towel over half of it, and place a heating pad under that same half. I put a towel in the bottom. I keep the heating pad on low. The mother can stay on the cools side and the puppies can snuggle with her or go to heated side. the towel helps to keep the heat from escaping. This is how my breeder told me to do it, and it works excellently. If you want pictures or more details PM me. I have a litter due on new years Eve, if she took, we don't know yet. |
