OK Patience, many trips outside to "use it", watching, reading signals, and trying to get a schedule....here is Miss Mika's latest.

She was having a near perfect day/night...everything going on schedule... Friend and I take her out all is well. We are in the family room maybe 45 minutes later, she pees on the same persian rug she did #2 on the night before (which my daughter then cleaned up afterwards with CLOROX CLEAN UP and faded and ruined my great Aunt's 500.00 rug!!!!),

So I go to bed and leave daughter and Mika up to deal with the rest of the evening....I am WORN OUT constantly watching Mika for signs that she needs to go out so she can experience some successes rather than failures.

Now one thing she has been good about is spending the night with you ala accident free. I get up this morning to find Mika in her crate with a note on top "I peed in the bed last night", oh lord why oh why are we going backwards???

I got the Kong and the CT chews, and the Nyla chews and just about solved the chewing on the wallpaper, and baseboards...but it seems potty training is an elusive goal.....

When I get home it is ALL Mika until bedtime. Trust me she gets affection, play time, tug of war, fetch the toy and then her real Mommie comes home and it is even more attention. What is wrong.aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Yikes! Sorry you are having so much trouble! :( How old is Miss Mika?

Have you thought about having her wear a diaper? Bella wears them sometimes when she is at someone else's house or now that we are in the living room a lot with the Christmas tree and I want to be sure there are no accidents. I ordered a couple from Des at Go.Fetch and they are great! Bella won't go in one and so it reminds her to hold it and then when I take it off and take her outside she goes. It's actually how she got potty trained and now I just use them as a reminder or an extra precaution.

I am sorry you are having a hard time. How old is Mika Yorkies are stubborn but are very trainable.

Mika is 8 months.

Here recently she has been going to the door and looking at it and you, even scratching at it after you get her on her leash like hURRY UP!!1 I thought we were getting there. I could almost understand her going if we were not around for some reason, but we always respond to her, and even ask her often if she needs to go. SHe KNOWS we love her and we are there for her and we WILL take her out, and we praise and reward her when she does it outside and say NO when we catch her about to do it inside.

She is SMART, smart enough to realize what time it is, I just don't GET IT!! AGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

Yes, her age is a big factor. I had to do the constant vigiliance with Millie for over 4 mos. Yes it was stressful and tiring, but I never let up!! and yes finally she understood what was expected of her and after that it was training her to ask to go out (because that's a whole different lesson) So about 6 months later she had it down pat! But it took that long of not giving up, day after day of vigiliance. I kept telling myself that I was sacrificing a small portion of my life and Millie's life so that I (we) could enjoy each other for the rest of it. And I can say she is 100% fully housebroken. So in the end I have to say it was worth it, but it was exhausting during the process.

So just keep up how you are doing and eventually there will be a happy ending to it.

I use Simple Solutions Stain and Odor Remover to clean up "accidents", works great on other stains also and doesn't damage. Sorry about the damage to your rug

I buy it at Pet Smart, I think it's a pretty common pet product so it's probably available at most pet stores.

They also make a spray you use so the pup will use a puppy pad so make sure it's the stain and odor remover

How old is she? You might have to keep her in an Xpen until she's housebroken, so she doesn't ruin your stuff.

Is that the little cage like thing?

I know exactly how you're feeling. Max is 4 months old, so younger than your baby, but he's been doing soooo good the last couple of weeks. We went back and forth with the crate training but have been using it religiously the last two weeks. He hasn't had the first accident in it (we were having problems with that before) and stays the night in it, though I do let him out at least once during the night. Just one accident in the house is all in the last week and a half and he seems to have gotten in to a potty routine. (Poop in the morning first thing and poop after lunch) Today it seems all that is out the window. Sometime between when I let him out last night and this morning when he normally goes out he pooped in his crate. Then later this morning after going outside for a bit, he comes inside and poops on the carpet. It makes you feel like you're starting clear back at step one and that there is no end in sight. You wonder is he/she having an "off" day and will things be back to good tomorrow, or has all my hard work just been erased?!

I was keeping Max in a play pen with pee-pads at first when I couldn't watch him but I decided this probably wasn't the best approach. He needs to understand that he can't potty anywhere in the house and I think it's to confusing for him to let him potty on a pad in the house, but no where else, and expect that he also learns to go outside. So we've done away with the pads and playpen and are just using the crate. I've seen several members here post a good idea. When the dog seems to regress in their potty training, take away their freedom and restrict them back to a small area of the house. As they improve again they can be allowed room to roam in more areas of the house.

On days like this I just take a deep breath (after the clean up, don't want to breath deeply then! :p ) and remind myself that this surely can't last forever. It seems that this breed is extra hard to house train and I'm not sure why that is. Unfortunately I didn't research enough BEFORE getting a puppy, or I might have picked an easier breed. Hindsight is 20/20 though and I love my little Max now so I just have to deal with it and keeping pluggin' along! Good luck with your little girl!
