Vet said no bathing for two weeks but... Reesee got spayed last Friday and the vet said she couldnt have a bath for two weeks! Well, I come home today and she had an accident and she has poop all in her fur :( She has a bad tummy, I think from the pain meds. Anyway, I tried to clean as much as I could with baby wipes but still feel she is dirty. Any advice? |
Try a warm washcloth...like a mini-spongebath. |
You'll just have to do your best to clean the area with a washcloth or something. Don't get the incision wet. |

yeah she really can't be put in the tub yet. have you tried dry shampoo? you can get it at the pet store. its works pretty well |
Max just got neutered 2 weeks ago and Mia last year. I had this happen to both of them. Honestly, I put both in the tub and used my detachable shower head (with hose) to wash their butt off. You can use your hair dryer on low or air to dry the wound... but I didn't want the bacteria from their poop to get in that area and both have had no problems with infection. Good Luck! |
bath I stand mine in the sink on their two back legs, front paws on the counter.. and wash the rear end...I realize washing dogs in the kitchen sink is a stomach turner to many... |
Oh, I didn't fill the tub - just set them in there to use the shower head. |
I would cover the area w/ gauze, something waterproof and put heavy waterproof medical tape all around the area sealing it off, then CAREFULLY wash just the poopy area making sure not to get any water near the incision. If you put enough layers between the site and the water, you can do it. |
