Question I was looking at some web sites yesterday and on one the breeder talked about over feeding and your dog being larger has anyone had this experience or believe this?:animal-pa |
I don't necessarily think it will make a puppy grow to be a larger size than it is meant to be genetically. However, overfeeding will make the dog overweight for it's frame. I have heard of causing dogs to be smaller by not feeding them enough though - if they're malnourished then they don't grow as well |
I think overeating would make them sick, and gain unecessary weight. |
The one of mine that is 14 lbs is not because she eats anymore than the other dogs. Their food is down from 7:00-5:00 everyday, but she never sits and eats, she will pick off and on all day. She goes outside for her nightly run and runs all over the back yard for about 10 minutes, but, never loses weight..I think its her metabolism.. |
It sounds to me that the person is trying to make up excuses as to why your dog might grow larger than they said it would get. size is strictly genetic. If you try to restrict their food their bones will still grow, but they will not be strong. Most yorkie puppies are the opposite, the tend to not eat enough. |
