Peeing in bed- does anyone else have such a crazy yorkie??
 

Okay my yorkie who is 10 months old and partly potty trained (she still has accidents but part of that has to do with her 4 month old sister who's still trying to be potty trained as well). She keeps peeing in her beds! First she peed in our yorkipoo's bed right after she got spayed- I thought it had to do with that. I sprayed the bed with pet stain remover and washed the whole thing- then the other one started peeing in it- I caught them doing it about 4 times before I gave up and threw the bed away. They usually both slept in Roo (the yorkie's) bed anyway. Well just today one of them (I think it was Roo though I didn't see her) peed in the bed they sleep in and have been sleeping in for the past 7 months for Roo and about 2 for Pumpkin. I don't want to have to throw away another bed...though I wouldn't mind if I knew that they wouldn't pee in the new one! Has anyone else had this problem? I thought dogs weren't supposed to pee where they sleep!

Also, Roo used to pee in her crate but I thought that was because she just couldn't hold it for long so I got rid of the crate after a little while but now I don't know? Please anyone that has any advice help!!!!

Hmmm...usually they won't...I've never had them pee in their bed...just on mine haha. How old are they and what do they weigh?

They usually aren't suppose to pee where they sleep, but you never know with these guys.

Roo is 10 months and weighs 2 1/4 lb and Pumpkin is 4 months and weighs almost 5 lbs. I'm pretty sure Roo is the culperate though and I'm at my wits end!!!

A lot of times dogs w/ bladder infections will pee in their bed. Other than that I'm not sure. I had one puppy that would do that.... but it didn't last long! Do they have piddle pads?

Well she always has her pee pads out and they use them most of time time (still working on that one- the little puppy is still learning). She does pee a lot and sometimes she'll like squat even when she only has to go a tiny bit but she's always been like that and she was just in to get spayed I didn't think to ask them but I would have thought they'd notice? Plus she was in the emergency vet not long before that and I would have thought they'd test for it? But I'll ask my vet- it's just so frustrating! She was just at the vet too with her little sister to get Pumpkin's rabies vaccine- I swear these dogs go to the doctor more often than I do! lol But I guess they're worth it =)

My two newest ones are having a HARD time with the peeing in bed thing. Yodi finally got over it (but we have to go out AS SOON as I get up. I hardly even have time to pee!), but Lilli Belle is having a bad time with it. I have started putting her in her crate as soon as we get up in the morning, while I go to the bathroom, and then we go outside. For some reason, that seems to make a difference. Unfortuantely, I've also noticed that if I don't take her out later at night, she can't hold it 'til 7am. So I have to take her out at 11pm. It can be a pain, especially on nights where I'm really tired and want to go to bed early. But they're so spoiled I just set an alarm for 11 and we get up and go out...then go back to bed. haha They're lucky I love them!

Do u know if she's peeing in her sleep? I would check if she has an infection. Rosie would pee in her sleep, but she didn't have an infection. She had a bladdar problem and the vet gave medicine for it. She would pee uncontrolably while she was walking or in her sleep. It was kinda gross. She's fine now.

Well I've seen both puppies pee in the other (now discarded) bed and they would do it fully awake intentionally. They are not at all confined to their beds at any time so she always has the ability to pee elsewhere be it on her pad or even if she was desperate on the floor! Her bed is only a few feet away from her pee pad. She does not have problems other than this- she never pees while in bed with me (she did once or twice as a wee pup but now that her bladder is full sized she can make it through the night. I think it might be a territorial thing because she did this once as a pup to my older dog's bed as well- kinda like marking it as her bed? If that's the case though I wonder if I'm doomed to wash their bed every other day for the rest of their lives????=(

If it started after she got spayed, it is probably "Spay Incontinence". It is more common than people realize! It is a simple hormone replacement pill to control it. If she is doing it in her sleep, that is probably what it is. Google it and call the vet. It is easily treatable. :)

Hmmmm...not the same issue Rosie had. Are they still doing this?

I never had this issue with Bunty when she was alive. Pippi my JRT is fourteen and a half and so had become completely incontinent. It was horrible for her because the sheer embarrasment of wet patches the whole time, no matter how much she was reasurred, made her feel old and bad. She went on a tablet called INCURIN in July and the problem cleared up completely after the first tablet. The dose has been varied but after some accidents it was put back up to one per day. The incurin straightens out the sphyncter (which crumples as the dog ages) and contains estrogen type things and luckily it worked on pippi. Sorry for my limited vetinary knowledge folks!!!
I know what you mean, sometimes its like I spend more time in the vet waiting room than at home! Prescriptions here, check ups there- The things we do for our doggies eh!!!

Yes, London used to pee on her bed but she doesn't do it anymore.

I would have her checked for a infection and/or a bladder problem. I've never had this problem. I would just feel better having her checked out to be sure. I hope it's not a health issue. I hope things get better for you. :)
