Air Travel with a Yorkie. I will be traveling with my 3 year old male from New Jersey to Florida for the first time. I have purchased a carrier which will be placed under the seat. Any tips on traveling with a Yorkie? Thanks, Stan |

Blanket or sweater I put my fleece over my carrier to make it dark so she would sleep. She did not make a sound! So I would suggest bringing a blanket or using your jacket. |
That's a really good idea. I wouldn't travel again with Sebastian, because his legs are just to long and get cramped, however if I brought Piper I'll bring a blanket. Excellent idea. |
There are lots of good tips on the other thread. My only thought I can add is do research before the trip. If you have a lengthy layover between flights, look for a place where you can let them out to potty. Many airports have a dog area you can go to, and if they don't you can use the family bathroom and wee pads. Good luck and have a great trip. ;) |
No sane person would allow me on a plane with all 6 of mine lol... but if I DID take one he/she would HAVE to be with me constantly...none of that cargo stuff...I would have a fit... |
I did not have any problems travelling with Annika . . she is the perfect companion. I highly suggest you use the family restroom so your baby can have privacy when he needs to go . . .my Annika is pad trained but will not do it in public so with the family restroom it has a lock and so she is happy to squat without feeling distracted or embarrassed. Besides, she is a furlady and don't want indecent exposures :) |
Welcome to YT! Hope you two have a safe and fun trip! :) |
traveling with yorkie I am also traveling w/mine to florida. Just make sure you book the pet along with your own flight and get a health certificate. good luck--my Lola is usually pretty mellow so I hope she will be good on the plane. I just wish I could take her out of the crate since all she ever wants to do is sit on my lap and would sleep for the 2 hours if she could morrislaz |
