Instead try praising them while they're quiet, telling them 'good quiet' and rewarding them with treats. You could try clicker training too, google it. |

I was just thinking..My Mom had problems with her morkie barking, so she bought a bark collar that was for dogs 5 pounds and up( I haven't been able to find one for that weight size), but, my son put the collar on the dog, when he barked(it was always excessive barking), it knocked it one time in the air..it really did help..You don't leave them on for very long at a time..now, when he barks, she shows him the collar, and he stops.. |

Well - my little girl doesn't bark much, but when she does - spraying her didn't work. So I read somewhere (on here I'm sure) that you fill a can with rocks and shake it. They HATE that noise, and I have to say it does work with her EVERYTIME All I did was empty out a soup can, fill it up with those fancy rocks you buy at dollar stores (any rocks will do) and then put tinfoil over top. Voila - I shake it when she is barking, and she looks at me and is quiet. It works like a charm. Good luck!! :) |

Remy was 3 lb. when she started to wear the collar ( she is 4 1/2 lb. now ) , yes it was large on her so I only put it on her for the shortest time neccessary when she was outside going potty . My neighbour is such a bitch ! she has filed complaints against all the people around her that have dogs and a few that don't ! The fines for noise are high , debarking or rehoming Remy are NOT an option for me.Just remember the spray does'nt hit the dog in the face, it goes up in front of their face and its a very fine mist. The collar can only be filled with the canister designed for the collar so water or whatever else can't be put in it. There are two styles of the anti-bark collar that I bought ,one has a remote that you use to trigger the spray so you can choose when to correct your dog ( this is the one I have) the other is just triggered by the sound of the dogs bark. While I didn't like the idea of useing this on Remy It was neccessary and has worked very well ,she seldom has to wear it now :thumbup: Eileen |
I bought an electronic gizmo called the Bark Solver and put it in the front hallway where Bailey always runs to and barks. I bought it at Pet Edge for around $30.00. You can set the frequncey to to high (dog only) pitch or to audible. She does not like it at all and will stop in mid bark. At night (when she doesn't sleep with our daughter) and it is pine cone falling season :) She can superman fly off the bed to run to the door to protect us. All night long...sighhhh.. the bark solver and a toy squirt gun worked wonders. I have one that barks and one that doesn't. Have you tried dog training classes? Worked well for my friends Boxer who would bark at every little noise. Good Luck |
Have you tried a Citronella Bark Collar. I don't agree with using shock collars on these wee babies, but I use the Citronella Collar on Lilli at work when she gets overly demanding at me when we get ready to go to lunch and I'm not "attending" to her quickly enough to suit her. haha They are harmless and man oh man do they work! |
Barking is not the problem, it is a symptom of your problem. Your problem is that the dog does not know who is in charge, so she has taken over the job. Have you tried just keeping her near you and correcting her when she barks? You need to use a little "Dog Whispererf" on her and let her know that you are the boss. A dog in a pack would never be allowed to bark like that. You need to become the pack leader and take back your house. |
Buddy barks when I am on the phone and it is so annoying to me and whoever I am speaking to. We have a screened in porch and I have to always put Buddy on the porch until I finish my phone call. |
