snouts :) What is the difference between short snouted Yorkies and Long snouted ones?? Any health issues, breed standards? |
Very short nosed yorkies can have off bites.. I have 2 but both have good bites... Long nosed yorkies there is nothing wrong with them but I like the boxier faced dog with a more balanced look.. To know which is better is ones own point of view.. It's not as noticeable if the dogs have a good hair coat.. If they have sparse hair then it's quite prominent and not as attractive I think.. :animal36 :animal36 :dogsm3: |
I also have a short snout yorkie in Bella, Diggy's is a medium Id say, both great bites and no health issues. I have neever heard of it causing any either, but I dont know a lot about it either so hopefully someone wil post and give you a better idea about it. |
Well I didn't know there was a difference...lol. I guess I would say Parker is a short nose with a good bite...And other then his knees he is a very healthy boy. With his knees is a genetic thing nothing to do with his nose...:p Maybe, well I am sure that some others on here might have a better explanation! |
muzzle The standard states that the muzzle should "not be too long"..making it open to interpretation as to what is too long or too short. I prefer shorter, refined muzzle/head, not a longer terrier one... Yorkies as a rule to do not have the breathing problems that come with a "push" nosed breed like a bull dog, pug, peke..those can suffer greatly in the summer heat and are prone to heat strokes. I have not found short muzzled Yorkies prone to bad bites...but some may.. |
All of Ceeby's babies with the exception of one have had a short snout. teddy Bear or babydoll face I think so me people call them and only one had a bite go off just a little as it grew but it straightened right back up. |
snouts Yes short snouts can have off bites. I like one that is short...but not smushed. I really don't like the long poodle noses. But it is all preference really. Plus...like someone said... once there beard is in... they all look good... well... unless you do a puppy cut around the snout! lol |
I prefer the short snouts to the long ones. I don't know that I've ever heard of a Yorkie with breathing problems, because of their snouts. |
