Hello New to the site Hello I am new to the site I have a 14 week old yorkie her name is pixie and she is full blown puppy all the way to her toes... I am having a hard time with potty training and trying to keep her out of my 4 year old cats litter box she wants to eat his poop so i baby gated the hall where my cats litter box is at. Other than that she is a doll very loyal to me. We bought my soon to be mother in law her brother so they get to see each other and play alot.. |
Hello!!! And welcome to YT, the best sight EVER!!! :p As for the potty training...try restricting your puppy to one room until you are SURE she is ready, then open up a room or two at a time until all the rooms you want her to have access to are open to her. Good luck and I can't wait to see pictures of your baby!!! |
hey welcome to YT!!!!! |
I am hoping to also find some dress patterns for my girl i love making things and i have tons of pretty fabric picked out i just cant find a pattern... any suggestions.. |
:welcome: to YT! I hope you will enjoy it here as much as I have. This is a wonderful place with wonderful people! I can't wait to see pics of your little one! That is really neat you MIL has Pixie's brother :) |
Welcome to YT! I've made a few dresses. A lot of dog dresses are made from a basic pattern...I don't know where you can buy one. I just looked at a dress that I bought on eBay a couple years ago and thought, Hey I can probably make this, and just drew a pattern out on a piece of paper. I'm not a big sewer though and it takes me a while to do it so I normally just buy clothes, but sometimes I'll get bored and decide to make some |
Welcome to yt. You're going to learn quite alot of information about your furbaby here. :yorkiesar |
:animal-pa I cant wait i need all the help i can get so dose my MIL she has my babys brother and its just be so much fun the last 3 weeks... |
:wavey: Welcome to YT. I'm so jealous of your talents. I wish I could make make furbaby clothes!! Good luck - there are are so many different ideas here for everything-Yorkie. That's what I love about it. No one does anything the same, so you will be sure to find one idea or solution that works for your style! As for your potty-training, I attribute my "success" (LOL - wait - let me stop rolling on the floor laughing at that first) to just being extra diligent for a few months. For most yorkies, if you really put the work into it for a few months, you'll have a lot of stress-free years. For all of mine, I've crate trained and kept them confined to one (non-carpeted) room in the beginning. Then as we get better, we add a room of freedom. Right now, Coby is going on 10 months old, and we've still only worked up to two rooms of free unsupervised freedom (one floor, one carpet) plus our bed at night. But those places are 99.9% accident-free. We are still adding rooms of supervision. My other dogs did not have full run of the house for over a year. It might seem really strict, but there's no yelling about accidents, no stress of cleaning them up this way, and only successful confident dogs! We use puppy pads and outside for pottying. Both dogs will either ask to go outside or go on the pad and come tell me that they did (they are WELL trained for treats!! :D ). Can't wait to hear more of your stories too! |
Hi:p and welcome to yt is nice to have here with us:aimeeyork |

Welcome! Welcome!! We need to see more pixie pictures!!! |
Welcome to YT!! We pretty much potty trained Toto as "For My Coby" said. You just can't praise them enough ... they really love to please you! Our Toto is four and we still have a celebration when she does a new thing. :p Pixie's avatar is adorable! ;) |
Welcome to YT. We'd love to see pictures of your baby. It's really nice that you were able to get both of them. |
Wecome to yt!! The potty training issue is one that we all know!!! It is NOT impossible to train them.... but you have to be diligent!! :D You may want to use an xpen to help keep the puppy out of the litterbox if you are busy and can't keep your eye on her. Or maybe a gate that the cat can jump over and Pixie can't. Check out the threads on Potty Training. Just do a search on them..... there are MANY, and lots of great advice! Good Luck to you and your new Yorkie! |
HI!:wavey: Welcome to YT!!!:p You'll definately love it here. |
Welcome to YT!!! |
Welcome! |
Welcome so glad to have you here. I had to baby gate the cat's things -- food & litter box - off from the dogs. It's hard for them to suggest the cat food. |
yeah his food and litter box are baby gated off he can get to them. She is doing better however with the Ice storm we had and then the cold and wind she has not really been outside but a few times she did however go out and go potty tonight but after that she has just been up in our bed sleeping but its only been about 15 min or so. I am hoping that in the few weeks to come she gets better she can run all over down stairs I cant block off the upstairs other wise my cat cant get away from her and she hates the kenel I am using the kennel as a time out thing for now but my MIL is going to be coming and getting her durning the day and takine her home until i get home.. |
So glad you are here with us:) |
Welcome to YT... its one of the best site I have ever found. We ended up putting the litter box up on a folding table in the basement..... The cats enjoy their privacy and the pups can't get to the box. Same with the food. It's up high where the cats can go but the pups can't..... Gotta be tricky sometimes.... Good luck with puppy classes.... |
Hello and welcome to YT! You will love it here.:welcome4: |
