florida hey ya'll......anyone here from Orlando , Fla area. I am thinking (pretty seriously) about moving us to the Orlando Fla area. We are currently in NJ. Any info on pros and cons....would love to hear. Tina |
Lucky you! I love Orlando! I visit there once or twice a year when we go to Disney World |
I live one hour east of Orlando in Melbourne. |
i live in nj too:) lucky you, if you do decide to move there |
I'm on the West Coast about 4 hours from Orlando. Except for missing the seasons, and the really hot summers I like it. I came here from New Jersey too. I'd say get a home with a pool if you can. Atleast you can escape from the heat. |
Florida 2 Attachment(s) I am 60 miles west of Orlando. Just have to get used to the humidity. Have you visited here in the summer? I lived in MN. in the summers and FL in the winters for 15 years. When we got in for the winters in late Sept. or early Oct., the humidity was hard to get adjusted too. Five years ago we settled in FL. I still can't take the heat in the summer time, but maybe because I am older. :warning:  :yorkietal :yorkiesar |
I have lived in Jersy all my life but anything under 70degrees is too cold for me......forget the winter. I can understand that the heat down there can be bothersome but with AC how much do you really feel of it. I just think it is better in Fla for the furkids than the cold up here. Yes we will get a pool unless I see a REAL good reason not to. It will be fun teaching the furkids to swim. I have been in Fla in the summer...not often but been there. Also been in the Carrib in the summer....not my ideal time to go as I love to get away from the cold not the heat but been there. So I kinda am a warm weather person. Tina |

But I really can't waite:cheer: ;) Thanks for the pics of your beautiful furbaby Tina |

I hate the heat and the humidity and the Traffic . |
We are north east of Tampa,:D :D nice area, not so busy, yet close enough to go to Orlando which is about an hour, then to Tampa 20 minutes..we are about 45 minutes to Clearwater....so we get all the pluses without the traffic....summer is terrible with the heat in the 90's and 100 % humity...BUT people live here in the summer, going from air conditioner to car with air..Just as up north lives in the winter, going from a heated house to a heated car... so really it is which ever way you look at it..hope this made sense...lol |
up here we have either very cold or oppressive heat.....very few in between weather days. i am sure you prob get more in between days in fla...such as in the 60-to-75 than we do. tina |
I live 2 hours south of Orlando. I agree with everyone else, the humidity is something you have to get used to. I like Florida but I will say that it has gotten pretty busy with a lot of people moving here in the last couple of years so traffic can be annoying. Also, be prepared to deal with hurricanes, although we had not one scare this year. It is awful nice not to shovel snow! I hate the cold! Anything under 70 is cold to me. Good luck! :) |
I live about 2.5 hours south of Orlando on the Gulf side. Originally from Virginia, lived there all my life and decided to move and been here 5 years. I don't miss the winters except during the Christmas holidays. I love the heat way more than the cold so I don't mind the Florida summers. :D Hurricanes are scary though but that is the price you pay for living in sunny Florida. :D |
I live in Melbourne too - 1 hour East of Orlando. Also....just a little networking here - hee, hee...I work for a builder who builds and sells in Central Florida if you need help, contact me. ;) :p By the way....your avatar is adorable. :) |
Florida is.... Hot and Humid!! :D As long as you don't mind the heat I think you love it down here. I sure do, I just wish it would get a little cooler during winter. I live in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale. Good Luck! |
We moved here in 2000 after 20 years in Alaska so you'll get use to the heat. I'd much rather worry about AC then heat any day. :^) |
How exciting for you, you're so lucky! :) I've been to Orlando and its very nice. My family is in Tampa though and Miami, so i have been there more. But all of Florida is nice:thumbup: :) |
I am in the Tampa area. I hate the cold and I love tampa. We have everything but far less traffic and visitors than orlando. Personally orlando drives me insane but I still go once oe twice a year. Not to change the subject but we should have FL meetup after the first of the year!!! |
We will be moving to Florida in one year and 10 months.... counting the days !!!! We like a little town called Sebring. |
WOW I didn't realise there were so many members near my home town     Next time I come for a Visit We'll have to plan a meet up ;) |
what made you decide to move from NY.....for me it's the weather...alot because of the furkids...plus I like it warm year round. Tina |
