Pet Bed ? Do any of you use a heated bed. Is this safe for puppies. I am thinking of getting one for our new puppy.:aimeeyork |
hmm Personally i take many thinks into consideration when even thinking about getting one of these. The first and highest consideration being fire safety. Heating pads cause thousands of fires a year. And im talking about the plug-in ones. There is also the fact that if you dont allow space for your yorkie to move away from the pad your yorkie could overheat or if the pup bites it he/she could be burned and/or shocked and possibly die right there on the spot. Plugin heat pads are a sham if you think of the possibilities of things going wrong as opposed to the up sides. I say you get your yorkie a soft baby blanky and one of those microwave heat pads so at night you just pop it in the microwave and throw it under your yorkies bed for the night. With heating costs in houses rising dramatically this option seems to be a good one for your yorkie to save money. hope i helped and just remember if it plugs in keep it away from your pets. And always practice fire safety. |
Thank you so much. Big help as always!! |
My baby is tiny still so I use a microwaved rice sock. It helps alot a night and theres no worries. Lana even scrunches it up for a bed pad! |
I use the microwaved rice sock, and it works well. Just don't let it get to hot. |
Sorry i dont know about the bed but i need to try the sock! |
I have the plug in... I have the plug in heated pad and i just stow it under his bed... it is great !!!! it has a controled temperature of 85 degrees only , so it is always just "warm" never gets too hot. This is an old house and it is drafty in the winter... he has 2 beds and when he does not need the "extra " heat he goes to the other bed. The cord on the pad is protected by a "chewing" proof metal coil... for protection ...and i plugg it on the outlet that has surge protection as well... i feel it is pretty safe... on my experience it is a great thing to have.... |
I wouldnt do electrical... Im just a worry wart... However, I would certainly try the microwave kind. I believe there is a member that makes em' for a good price. You microwave em' and they stay warm all night - Ive been thinking of getting one for Meka since its been getting so cold... |

Sounds like a safe and great idea. It is so cold here now, I will be trying it tonight:thumbup: |
I use the microwaved rice sock:) Koda loves it! It's normally very cold here since I am not so much of a heat person, I like it cold but because I have Koda I keep the house nice & warm and she also stays warm with the rice sock:aimeeyork |
It is safe... i used it las year and i am using again... The electrical i have is very safe, i used last year and now i need to use it again... here in Ma is really cold... our apartment is on a very old house wich seems to be a trade mark around here... cold and drafty and old heat sistem only does so much... i bundle him up sometimes, but the hair tangles too much ... it is impossible to keep it even with daily brushes... and when i am at work he is here... so the electrical is peace of mind for me , i tried the microwavable as well, it sure works great too... but after i got this one it is much more convenient.... i bought it onlyne, it is a hard board of plastic and heavy is very safe... it was not cheap and is made specifically for the situation and can also be used outside and in snow as well so it is very safe . Ahhhhhhhhhh.......... i wish i was using a cooling bed in caribe right now.... heheh ... just having coconut water and putting Maxx in a "speedo"......:D :D |
