Yikes! 5.5 pds at 12 weeks? Wow! Yoda weighed 5.5 pds. today at his 12 week appt.. The breeder said he should weigh around 7 pds. fully grown. Is there a possibility that he may still weigh around 7-8 pds? If anyone has had a yorkie this size, I would love to hear your story! I would love to see any pictures of your yorkie if it weighs between 8-10 pds.! We were hoping for a smaller dog, but we love him anyway!!!!!! :animal-pa |
i think it maybe still can! you never know with these yorkies lol! |

I highly doubt he'll stay under 7lbs if he's 5.5lbs at 12 weeks. Lacy was slightly over 3lbs at 12 weeks and is now 7.5lbs. Just guessing - I'd say yours will be 12-15lbs full grown |
Weight can be at times hard to tell. But IMO I think you have yourself a Teapot. Buddy was 6.5 lbs at 14.5 weeks when I purchased him. I would say he was your pups size at 12wks. Gaining approx 1lb a month until he was 12 months old. Today he is 15lbs and all Yorkie. The larger ones are wonderful, however, if you wanted a smaller one I would speak to your breeder. Did you see the parents? |
Mckenzie was 1.5 lbs at 11 weeks and now at 9 months she's 3.8 ish, so I'd say your pup would likely end up on the bigger side -- around 12 lbs or so. I love the larger yorkies though! I think they are beautiful! |
weight Think about it like this...you got two Yorkies for the price of one..LOL |
Buddy was 5lb at 12 weeks, he's 15lb now at 2yrs, just more to love and a fantastic snuggle on a cold night! :) |

Pat, your absolutely right. I tell myself that all the time. |
Elphaba was 1.75lbs at 9 weeks and 3.1lbs at 16 weeks. We still have some growing to do but I'm thinking she'll end up around 5lbs. |
wow, at 12 weeks, your baby is already the weight of a lot of full grown yorkies! but that's even better - i liked the comment that you got "two yorkies for the price of one!" let's see pics...! |
1 Attachment(s) My Teddy was 5.7 at 12 weeks and at just over 2 years he is a beautiful 14.8 lbs. Of my 5 Yorkies he get the most compliments! |
I doubt if you'll have a seven pounder, but you can never tell. |
Welcome to YT! would love to see a picture ! |
I love the teapots! Pictures please :) |
Yes would love to see a picture...My oldest was smaller than yours at 12 weeks, and she's now 14 pounds full grown...and like someone else stated, more to love!! I wouldn't trade her for the world. |
Yoda gained 3 pounds in 3 weeks!!! Yoda was only 2.5 oz. at 9 weeks and is now 5.5 oz. at 12 weeks! Is that normal? |
I like the teapots. They have substance and you don't have to worry about things like....walking. |

But maybe he already had his growth spurt...! Sounds like he is a SUPERYorkie to me!!! Hehehe. |
im not expert on the subject, but sound like he might be on the bigger end. but when you think of it, even at 10 or 15 lbs, its still a small dog! for some reason when i got my litle boy and heard he was going to be around 4 - 6 lbs i was thinking that that might be too big. TOTAL miscalculation of size!! i saw a 6 pound maltese in the park today and she was tiny! there is also a 12 pound yorkie in my area and he is still quite small! its not like a yorkie would ever get to the size of a lab or anything...even though that would probably still be cute!! :p |

Do you have any pics of him? |
1 Attachment(s) My Lexie is about 10 lbs. She is tall, long, & lean. Not an ounce of fat on her. I was hoping for a 7 or 8 pounder, but she is beautiful just the same. Here's her pic :D |
