Strange behavior Hi boys and girls.:wavey: Our little Bella is about to be 6 months old. She is quite a doll, and that is saying something coming from me! I'm a 53 y/o guy that has fallen for this dog like I've NEVER done for a dog before.:animal36 Anyway, she has this little soft bone-shaped toy that she loves to carry around in her mouth. That in itself isn't that strange, but sometimes she will whine and cry and run around with it as if she is looking for a place to hide it. She will approach me or my wife crying a deep, very saddening cry. When we try to approach her she takes off running with the toy. Shortly thereafter she returns and begins crying again. Any ideas what's going on in her little mind? Other than the crying she is perfectly healthy. TIA, Jim |
Awww, she sounds positively ADORABLE! Ya know, Wylie went through a stage where he did that - and it seemed he wanted acknowledgement that he "had a kill" (LOL) and also wanted to find good places for burial. So, when he'd come up to me, I'd say "oh my, whatcha got? look at THAT. Wow. Do you have your bone?" - and I'd sometimes try to touch the toy in his mouth just to make sure he wasn't using his "posession" as a dominance thing. The little whines seemed to go away (can't remember when) - but he still LOVES it if he has a bone in his mouth and I make a big deal out of it - he'll bring his bone close to my face just to hear me say "whatcha got". It almost seemed like a stage he had to go through. Do you think she wants you to play with it or something, maybe? Does she ever actually hide it and then go back and get it? I wonder if she wants you to try and "get it" from her..? |
Welcome to yt:) My Babies do that when they want me to play:) Try throwing it and see if she want to play fetch;) |
She just wants you to play with her. You have to be quick and try to get the toy from her and then throw it so she can go get it...or she wants to play tug a war. This is a normal thing.:D |
sometimes, they think those toys are their babies |

That's what my wife and I were thinking. |
That's just how Gracie acts when she want my husband to play with her. |
Carson started doing that right away when we brought him home...when chewing his bone. He still does it at 10 months if he's really getting into it. He sounds so upset, but he's really just getting into the chewing. deb |
My guys do that when they want me to throw it. |
That's so funny. I was about to write a thread on the same subject. Bikini is 6 months. She wines and cry often and she never did that before. As soon as I start to talk to her or play with her she stops... It can be annoying but yet she's got such a cute face... Everytime we try to pick her up, she always run away... I think she wants to play! Anyway, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I was starting to think she was getting in heat or something! Have a nice day :) |
