Ultra small breed adult So, i went to Pet Zoo today. and got my free little gift they have for dogs/cats. Well i got a free sample of Ultra Small breed adult along with some toys . I figured i'd let my little haylee try it out, since she isn't really eating the food we have now , Science Diet. and she loves it. so i was wondering. Is this good food ? does anyone else have their babys on this? let me know. |

I’ve never heard of it, but Science Diet isn't as good as some people think- I used to feed Science Diet but had to switch. What are the ingredients in the Ultra Small Breed kind? |

Chicken meal, whole brown rice, ground rice, race bran, lamb meal, poultry fat, dried plain beef pulp. are the first few.its made by nutro i believe. |

Are you talking about Nutro Ultra? If so, I used to feed my babies that until they stopped caring for it. I now feed them Natural Balance Ultra Premium. |

It doesn't sound like a bad kibble. If she likes it I'd try it. |

Yes, that is a very good food, I had mine on it, but, took, them off because of how expensive it was..I had 6 of them eating it, and 2 of the dogs are big outside dogs..I was buying it, but in the big bites..it helped a lot on the pooping too.. |

It looks like an okay food but it does have menadione in it. It would have to be one awesome food (and I don't think it is) for me to consider feeding that. |

It's complete junk. Filled with fillers and lips & a-holes. You're better off putting your money in a better food, even if she likes it. The ingredients you listed is basically equivilent to you feeding your child doritos for breakfast and chocolate cake for dinner. It's food, just not healthy food. No matter which way you look at it. |

4 star out of what? 10 perhaps. I don't know what company is doing the rating, I'll have to go look, but if she listed the ingredients correctly from the beginning of the bag, it appears she did, then there's no way it's a good food in any stretch of the word. I mean, don't get me wrong, food is better than no food and that's what this surmounts to. I feed a variety of kibble to be honest. What works well for one dog doesn't always work well for the next. And each has their own desires in taste, that doesn't mean that you need to go with a lesser quality of kibble just to find one they like. I'd consider looking at: Natural Balance; Timberwolf (look for one of the flavors that has no sunflower product in it, like the southwest chicken); Harvest Blend You have a variety of literally "healthy" kibbles to choose from, the next step after paying attention to ingredients is then percentages. After that is taste...which is also important, but there are always tricks to getting a child to eat their peas, dogs too! ;) |

The site has foods ranging from 1 star to 6 star food Quote:

A nutritionalist wouldn't rate this food very high at all. It has too many fillers in the first five ingredients. You can have better quality protein sources. The food doesn't list exactly what fish oil they use, only that it's fish oil...which could mean that it's whatever is cheaper to make that particular batch, lesser scruitiny for the marketed farm fish which means you need to be careful about mercury levels in said fish....does this company do that? Further, it has sunflower product, which has been looked at for years as a carcinogenic in dogs. When I have time, or if you'd like, take a search looking for this very subject. Maybe at the American Veterinary Medical Association, or maybe even Solid Gold will have an article on it somewhere from years ago. The list goes on, point is, I'd move along and do more homework. |
