Well how old is she? Does she answer to her name now? As for the crying, do you have her near you in a comfy cozy carrier with blankets. Parker has slept with me since the first day I brought him home. I am sure a bunch of people will have some great advise!! Oh and congrats on the new baby!!!:) |
Oh yeah and if you would want they have buddy's that you can buy for her that she can sleep with. Some you warm up in the micro that stay warm and others that actually have a heartbeat...just a suggestion.. |
I can't answer the crying question. I'm sure she'll grow out of it once she becomes comfortable with her new surroundings and she learns what is what. I love her name and think it's ok to keep it. I don't think it's too long. But if you want to change it I think that would be ok too. |
I LOVE the name Buttercup! But change it if you want... |
Thanks so much for the advice |
It's not too late..I had to sell my biewer, she knew her name Heidi, the other lady changed it to Hannah, and she learned it right away(she was about 7-8 mos when she changed it), my mom had a dog she got at 11 mos. she changed her name, and she learned it quick..they adapt very well to name changes |
When I first started reading your post I thought "awww cute name" but then you said you wanted to change it...lol...I think its cute and not too long...before long you will have sooo many nicknames buttercup wont seem that long lol...my Reece gets Reecey Piecey Peanut Butter Cup ALLLLLLL the time lol.. welcome to YT!! |
Welcome to yt, I love the name:) Of course its up to you;) |
When we first brought Xena home we put her in a baby play pen at night in our bedroom so she could see us but didn't have free reign to make messes on the floor. She cried at first but stopped when she realized we weren't going to go get her. You just can't give in when they start crying, if you do they learn that crying will get them what they want. She would whimper in the middle of the night and we would take her out to go potty and then put her right back in the pen, no playing. She learned in a couple days that pen time was sleep time. I hope that helps. |
It's definetly not to late to change her name, but maybe you can call her by a nickname. |
I think the name is cute. About the crying, London used to cry when she first came here cause she was so tiny i didn't wanna sleep with her and suffocate her or something so i used to keep her in the crate, and she would cry cause she would want to get out and sleep with me. Eventually i had to let her sleep with me, so that may be it. She learned not to pee on the bed also, so yours has to be potty trained |
Well, welcome to YT :p and I also think buttercuo is a cute name but you can still change it if you like. :animal36 |
Welcome to YT! I love the name buttercup but you can still change it plenty of time, and for the crying, they sometimes have to cry it out, but alot on here have a great suggestion, putting there crate where they can see you:D |
From day one I have had Riley's crate on my nightstand next to me so he can see me and my husband and he barely ever cries. He only cries if he has to go outside and do business or if its time to get up! Other than that he is usually very quiet and goes right off to sleep.:animal-pa |
Its definitely not too late to change it..I heard two syllable names were best...but Elphaba is three and she responds great to it...better than her two syllable nick name of Elphie. As far as crying at night...our crate is downstairs in the living room. Elphie stopped the lonely crying after the first couple of nights. She started sleeping soundly through the night no problem....Then a month after she got home she'd cry when she wanted to go potty...usually once or twice in the night. After a month of me getting up a lot in the middle of the night, I started letting her sleep in bed with me a couple weeks back and now she sleeps soundly through the night...doesn't wake up until the alarm goes up or a kitty gets on the bed to wake us . |
Hi Kenice I got my molly 5 days ago now and she's 7 weeks now,the 1st couple of nights she cried a lot and I was up 5/6 times in the night, but it was strange how she slept most of the day, so i put it down 2 she was scared of the dark so i tried putting a night light by her, and for the first time last night she slept through the night, apart from waking at 2am just for little play but then she went til 7.30am which was brill cos as i say i'd been getting up nearly every hour or so |
Like you I was worryed Manhattan was too long of a name, but I really liked it so I kept it. He responds great to his name and Its not hard for me to say quickly anymore. I think Buttercup is a really cuite name:D . |
:aimeeyork I used a snugglepuppy which is soft and has a heartbeat with both of my boys which I got 6 months apart. I put them in a large kennel with a pee pad in the back of the kennel and I put them on the snugglepuppy in the front of the kennel at night and neither one of them ever cried. I put them in the bathroom at night. I only kenneled them at night until they were pad trained and about 16 weeks. They snuggle together at night in there dog bed now. Mom of LeRoy and Louie |
