Sugar got a concussion The end of the story is thank God he is okay but I had the worst morning of my life today. My daughter was on the computer and had Spike and Sugar on the seat behind her back. She isn't supposed to do that and trust me, she learned her lesson. Sugar fell off and apparently landed on his head on the tile floor. He couldn't walk straight and his head was hanging crooked to the side. We rushed him to the vet and by the time we got there he was starting to hold his head better but still couldn't walk straight and just seemed out of it. His vitals were all good and he was steadily improving and becoming responsive. By the time we left he was walking fine and was eating bits of a dog cookie and giving me kisses. The vet said with his vitals so strong and his steady improvement that he wasn't worried about internal bleeding and he felt sure he was going to be fine. They gave him a steroid shot in case there was any internal swelling. This happened right as I was waking up. I hadn't even brushed my teeth yet. Trust me, I was quite a sight at the vet's office- crying and telling him how much mommy loves Sugar and about the green beans and chicken he was going to get and promising ice cream, and more crying. I'm sure I looked like a complete lunatic. He is fine now as far as walking and responding. I fed him french fries which I never do but he deserved them and I'm just so happy to see the appetite. He just wants me to hold him but if I put him down he'll jump on my leg and wag his tail. I have never been so happy to see a tail wag. It is so scary how quick a freak accident can happen. |
poor sugar glad to hear hes fine ,i would of freaked out these little ones sure know how to give us a heart attack. |
I am sorry.........I hope he is ok, your poor daughter, I think I would do the same thing, I would run out without caring how I looked:rolleyes: |
oh poor Sugar! i know how you feel... Layla was dropped as a puppy by a child who shoudln't have been holding her (hard to say no when my mom is saying yes) on tile floor.. she too walked funny and shook her head a lot but within minutes came back to normal.. thank god the kid was short.. not too far to fall! but i know the feeling.. .sickening! glad your little one is ok :) we send our love! |
Ohhh Nikki how scarey! I just can't imagine! I am so glad he is better. Hope he continues to recover without any issues!:p |
Wow what a scare you had. I am glad to hear Sugar is okay now. Give him lots of hugs and kisses |
Whew, thank God he's okay!!!! You musta been scared out of your mind!!! |
Thanks everyone. I was so scared I was afraid I'd pass out. I don't know what I'd do without Sugar so he had better live forever. He just threw up the fries I gave him so I guess that was a bad idea. He does seem back to his old self though, just a bit tired. |
omg how scary! Poor Sugar, atleast he is okay |
Aw I'm glad he is doing fine. |
Aww, poor Sugar! I'm so glad to hear he's ok and is back at home. Hope he get's back to his normal self soon. Bruiser and Marcus Aurelius send get well hugs!;) |
Glad he is doing better. I can imagine how terrified you must have been. Did the vet say anything about a mild concussion with the sleepyness and throwing up? Poor baby is probably just worn out and the fries didn't set well. |
Glad every1 is alright |
Oh, Nikki! I'm so glad everything turned out okay, how scary! I would say, if there was any day that a little fella deserved a french fry - today was certainly it! I'd practically give him a Big Mac! Give him kisses from Ann, Marcel and Wylie. :D |
Oh Nikki How sarey for you. I am so glad he is ok. |
