Dog Tag Issues... 1 Attachment(s) Ok, so Tucker's id tag came in yesterday and I LOVE it. It's so adorable. I put it on him and for a little while he didn't seem to mind, but last night he was going crazy over it, trying to chew on it. He actually managed to get to it a couple times and now his tag has a few teeth marks on it. I think it's the fact that it "jingles" (the metal hitting metal makes a jingling sound) that really gets to him. Normally I'd just leave it on him until he got used to it, but since he actually managed to get it in his mouth a few times I took it off for the time being... Anyone have any ideas? Here's a picture of it before we took it off... |
Deiter does the same thing. But he does this with his harness also. So now I just take the harness off and only put on when we leave. That way the ID tags are on there when we go. Good luck |
Sorry I fotgot to add what a cutie you have |

Thanks!! |
I keep a collar on Keno with her name and my contact number embroidered on it, and on her harness I keep all the other information tags and Rabies shot info ... But I never take her out without her harness on, and her collar has info "just in case" plus she is microchipped ... the jiggling sound makes her go crazy looking to see where it is coming from ... |
When Baxter gets excited - he grabs his tags and prances around with them in his mouth - He'll climb as high as he can on you and try and put his tags in your mouth - He has his Rabies and Name tag - My husband always says that shot must have hurt - he's so proud to be wearing those tags. |
Awe what a cute teddy bear face. No suggestions, but I wanted to say how cute he is. |
Lol Trixie never seemed to mind hers much but.... As soon as the kitty found it she wouldn't leave Trixie alone! I finally had to pull it off and let the cat have it :) Now Trixie has a embroidered collar with her name and our phone# on it. No worries now! |
Bianca used to do the same thing...bite at hers, and left it unrecognizable! Now shes fine with it. Hopefully he will grow out of it. Gino doesnt seem to mind his...yet! LOL you lil man is a DOLL!!!!!!!!!!! |
Cute little tag!!! Did he get used to just the collar before you put the tag on it? When I tried to put the tag and collar on for the first time she went nutso and chewed on the tag lots....I took the tag back off and she wore the collar without the tag for a week (she gets a harness when she needs to be on leash). After she had a week in the collar to get used to it, then I added the tag and she doesn't bother with it at all now! If only I could get her to stop chewing her way through harnesses now! |
Cute baby!!! I had the same problem. I had gotten Cody James a Gator tag from petsmart and he has put teeth marks in it and i have his rabie tags on his harness and he messes with it once in while.. funny thing is.. We gotten a collar with cody's name on it and it has bone charm that hangs down.. he doesnt touch it :D |
Tucker is so adorable!! what a fun tag! |
What a cute tag for a very cute Tucker! My yorkies both chewed at their tags when they were first introduced to them. If you leave the collar on, once they get used to it, they will leave the tags alone. At least that's how it worked for me. But I can see how you wouldn't want Tucker to get teeth marks all over that tag. Maybe some tape on it for awhile to keep it from jingling to much????? |
Brownie & kayko never cared about there tags but austin drives us nuts so he only wears it when we go out he just will not get use to it & hes almost 3 |
