What in the world?! I decided I'd wash some of Lilly's blankets and toys a few minutes ago. As I was getting her stuff out of her crate (where she sleeps at night) I was looking at her blanket while walking to the laundry room and seen something that looked odd so I picked it off and was like what in the world?! It was one of her nails. I've never heard of such thing, would this be where they're too long and need clipped? I mean they're not absolutely long but it wouldn't hurt to have her groomed but I've been extremely sick. Someone please help, I'm scared to death. It broke completely of down to the quick. She doesn't act like she's in pain, I've been playing with her all morning and rubbing her paws and everything. :( |
Anyone? |
Weird...never heard of that. At least it broke at the quick and not too much further...*bumping the thread to the next set of eyes* |
Someone Hi, Did you see any blood? If not I wouldn't worry about it. If so, and it has stopped bleeding, I think she should be ok. I cut my dogs nails a bit too short before, and just applied a stiptic to it and it stops the bleeding. You could call the vet to reassure you if you need that, But if she is not bleeding, I wouldn't worry about it, OK? Calm down and take some deep breaths. Everything will be ok. ~Melody~ |

I would say that if there is no blood and she's seems to be normal... I think its fine, I wouldnt worry :) |
Wow, never heard of this. Glad she seems to be ok. |
If she's not bleeding or favoring it I wouldn't worry. |
That must have been worrisome..but like everyone else said if its not bleeding dont worry :) Dawn |
A similar situation happened to a friends dog where his nail broke down under the skin. I am not sure it these were the exact circumstances but her dog will most likely have to have surgery because the nail will become ingrown once it starts growing again. I dont want to scare you because this may not be the case for your pup but I would call the vet and find out. You may need to do a consult but its better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck! |

no harm done ... as long as your baby is walking okay, it's okay. |
nail sheath dogs have nails that have a kind of nail sheath (sp?) around them... they can come off completely but it doesn't mean the whole nail is gone. This has happened to my Chloe ( I don't cut her nails very short because my eyesight is not great and I am afraid I will make her bleed)... anyway it was nothing! Goodluck |
My Brother in Law's Min Pin chews her on nails. It's always short and she chews them off herself... I don't walk bare foot in his house cuz the one time I did, I kept on stepping on little pieces of doggie nails. Maybe she chewed it off? |
one of my friends dogs chewed his nails all the time she never had to cut them lol. |
