I am so sorry to hear this story but so glad he is going to be OK! Just give him lots of love and make sure he gets out again around good dogs. Let him know there are good dogs out there and that not all of them are bad! |
oh no im so sorry about Toby! Poor thing! Just hold him a lot, give him lots of kisses to try to reassure him that he's okay with you. |
Oh, what a horrible story. It made me sick to my stomach just to read it. I am so glad Toby is okay. Please, please everybody, get some pepper spray for dogs (it's called Muzzle) and carry it with you at all times. Most people wouldn't be able to successfully wrestle a small dog away from a large dog like her husband did. Often a dog will turn on the person, too. I had a loose dog go after my Lady a few years ago. I fractured my pelvis saving her, but I did. Never ever again will I try to physically stop an attacking dog. The spray will sting like crazy, but it won't hurt them and it can save your dog's life. I hope you reported this attack. My heavens, this happened in a park where children play! |
Oh Man....I know EXACTLY how you feel and what you are going through...its not fun.... We lost our little Sterling last year to a Lab, it went so quick, the Dog grabed his neck and bit through and killed him instantly.....for nights thats all I could see was little Sterling danggling in this dogs Hugh Mouth. I'm still not over it... As for your little baby, I can not answer your question...sorry I would make damm sure that the owner puts his dog on a leash, and if there are any vet bills, give them to the owner of the dog....maybe then he;ll think twice of having his dog on a leash.... |
That's terrible. I would make him pay the vet bills. |
What a terrible experience for your poor dog. I'm sure your husband did the best he could under the circumstances. I've had a few dogs go after Kalina but, thank goodness they were small dogs and I saw them coming and could pick her up in time. I'm so happy that Toby is ok. I can imagine he is traumatized but feel certain it will ease with time. Quote:

It's legal to buy Muzzle here in North Carolina so I got mine in a gun shop. (Never been in one of those before!) You can also buy it online. |
I am glad Toby is doing ok. That was just horrible hearing you describe what happened. You are doing all the right things in comforting and being there for your furbaby. Love and hugs should heal his fear of being attacked again. Your husband response was quick and saved Tobys life. |
I agree I would definitely send the person your vet bill.. I hope Toby feels better soon. I would have been furious too. People seemed to have lost all their common sense lately |
Id be a little skiddish if someone picked me up and put my whole body in their mouth..its must have been terrifying for him..eventually he will come around and be his normal self...dont take it out on your hubby...be grateful he was able to safe his life!! Dawn |
[QUOTE=KimberlySRN;1533815] I ended up grabbing the dogs neck and shoving it into a fence, and the owner had the nerve to get mad at me. QUOTE] Well my husband controlled the dog, and hes 6' 3" most people don't get mad at him ;) .... he did tell the owner that if anythng happened we'd be back to see him. |

But Thank You to everyone for their warm wishes and comforting thoughts, I feel like I have alot of work ahead of me, but to see him running, and playing like he used to would make it all worth it. :) |
OMG, How awful for toby, Glad he is ok, he is probably so shook up and scared, that is very scary, poor baby:( iam so sorry. hugs to you both. |
Being that they are friends of friends, hopefully they will step up and voluntarily offer to pay the vet bills. |
