Why all of a sudden??? I can’t understand what’s going on!!!. About a week ago Bengi started having potty problems. He’s 19 months old and he’s been potty trained since he was around 6-7 months old. He goes in the pad in a litter box. He was neutered at 6 months and never really marked anywhere. Now he started peeing under the table and by the table legs. I don’t know if he’s marking or if he’s just peeing there. I tell him No! Bad boy each time I caught him and try to make him go in the pad afterwards, but he’s getting scared when I caught him. I just tell him no! and put a mad face, but that’s enough to make him run away. Then when I get him and put him in the box, he shakes like he’s terrified of me! I don’t know what’s going on! And sometimes he goes in the pad, so it’s not something that’s wrong with the pad itself. There is no consistency in what he does and it’s making difficult to identify the problem. I’m trying to put extra attention on what he does and where he heads to to make sure I caught him before he goes under the table. I can’t really confine him because it’s a small apartment, I can’t get him away of the dinning area without taking away the rest of the house. And I don’t think I can crate him, he’s not used to the crate that much, although he stays there quietly, it’s more like a jail for him, and I can be without him in the house, we went through that already when he was young, it’s just doesn’t feel right to have him in the crate. I think the fact that I’m not letting him get away with it it’s gonna help eventually, but I’m just soooo frustrated! But I’ll keep trying. It just came to my mind that I can put a piece of plastic tablecloth under the table to discourage him from going there, what do you think? |
I tried the plastic once but my male actually liked the sound and ever after would seek out plastics bags to pee on. Is he fixed? Sounds like he's marking to me. |
I am so sorry you are going through this. Is he peeing more than normal? Winstin was doing great potty training then all at once he was peeing in the house. We ended up finding out he had a UTI. Are you cleaning up the pee with something made for that? Because if the right cleaner is not used for pee then they can still smell it even if it does not smell to us. I am just trying to think of anything that would help. |
It sounds like marking to me. Shadow did a thread recently where she saiid her 3 yr old yorkie just started marking. chachi marks outside and when I go to places like Petsmart I hope he never starts inside the house. |
I'd get him checked for a UTI. |

I got a Woolite on Saturday, I used that one before but never have problems. I might have to clean the whole area with steam. |

Layla's vet said if she starts to break her housetraining it could be a sign of a bladder infection... i think they just do blood work. Poor guy. I would bring him to the vet so at least they can rule that out and you know it is marking. I'd hate to know i was getting mad at him when it's not his fault... that look they give you... oh can break hearts :) If it is marking... you can always get a belly band. |
If they've been neutered(which she said he was neutered), he wouldn't be marking(although, they could still lift their legs to pee)...mine have been housebroken a long time, and yet, if they get upset about anything, they will still go and pee or poop on the carpet. Is he peeing more than he normally does? |

I just call the vet and they told me that I can bring a urine sample so they can check for infection. That way we can rule that out... or in  Now I'm thinking, how I'm going to manage to get that sample!!!!!!!! |
when lacey was a baby she used to pee behind the couch i put aluminum foil on the ends and she wouldnt cross it. i kind of crumpled it a bit so it was polky. |
