What to do with Teddy??? We have to go away in a couple of weeks for my daughter to compete in a figure skating competition. We will be leaving on a Thursday and returning on Saturday. My dilemma is whether to take Teddy with us or leave him home. I could probably get a pet friendly room in the hotel, but there really isnt' alot of time at these things that I could spend with him and no pets are allowed at the arena, so I'm afraid Teddy would be spending too much time in the room alone. Besides the obvious reasons I would be a wreck all day worrying that he would be stolen from the hotel room. My other option is to leave him with my good friend and neighbor for the couple of days we will be gone. but then I'm worried that he will have separation anxiety ( and I know I will  ). Any advice?? |
He can come stay with me for the weekend.:D |
Ohhhhh, I feel bad for you!!!! I would feel the same way you do!! Sounds to me that your neighbor would be your best bet since you really can't take him with you. (I would really worry about him in the hotel) Let us know what you decide to do!!!! Don't worry....it will be OK!!! |
If you get a pet friendly Hotel. Just put the sign on the door. that way know one will come in. Don't have a purse that you have for him to go in. Deiter loves his. |
I sure feel for you, I know it is very hard choices when we love out baby's and worry so much about them. It is so hard in this day and age also. We have a fifth wheel and it works great for us. We take it to visit our daughter a couple hours away from us. that way our furkids know it as home and settle right in.. pooh's mum |
Where is the competition? maybe a yter can help out. |
Your best bet is your neighbor -- and your pup may surprise you. I left mine with friends for a week when I was in Hawaii and he did GREAT! My friends said that right after I left he kept looking at the door for me, but by bedtime he was fine and was a happy boy the week long! |
I think the hotel must have security! Teddy might have less seperation anxiey at the hotel because at least he will have big chunks of time with you! Good luck! |
My daughter use to compete as a skater and I know how you need to be focused on her, so I would opt for the neighbor. There is enough going on at a competition that you do not want to be worried about Teddy. Some hotels absolutely forbid you leaving a pet in the room unattended. Be sure to check that out. If you stay somewhere really nice, like a Lowe's they might have doggy daycare. (But if you're like me that was out of the question by the time you pay for ice time, a private coach, music, skates, costumes, etc.) I would go with the neighbor and the security home offers, unless you can find someone on yt to take care of them will you are at the ice arena. I have had 2 different yters take fabulous care of my dogs for me. |
the competition is in Bourne, MA on December 6-8. I will probably leave him with my neighbor as I am nervous about leaving him alone in the hotel room. I;m sure they have security, but they always say not to leave valuables in the rooms, and he's the most valuable thing I have!! Thanks for all your advice. I'm sure he'll be fine, but its like leaving your first child with the babysitter for the first time. |
