Help! Have 4 yorkies, 3 have broken out with what I think may be hotspots. Anyone have remedy, tried sulfodene, not much help! |
oh, how awful for those babies. My Bichons use to have problems with those & it was a continuous battle. Here is a website with a lot of natural or home remedy type cures http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/hot_spots.html Maybe someone else will have a better suggestion on YT. I'm wondering what you are feeding your yorkies?? I really think now, that my former dogs problems were probably tied to a food allergy more than anything. So I have much guilt over not knowing more about selecting a holistic food. I was feeding Iams and was so proud of myself - but now I know so much better. :wavey: Welcome to YT. Hope you stay around this is a great, knowledgeable site filled with fun, warm people :) |
Feeding them reduced fat BilJac dry and regular, recently quit feeding them wet/Science Diet , maybe lack of fat in diet? |
ok, I've lost it - I used to feed Science Diet years ago to previous dogs not Iams. But back to your concern, I'm not sure that fat would have an effect like that or the lack of it. I would be more concerned about the corn and chicken by products that is Bil Jac. You might want to look at this site that compares dog food and ingredients. I 4 or 5 star is probably best for a yorkie. 6 star may be too much for these little babies. www.dogfoodanalysis.com Also, there are many members here who home-cook, something I'm considering doing, here's a link to some recipes http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75933 Also, many are feeding raw. There are so many alternatives out there, but I believe often the problems on the outside have more to do with what we're putting on the inside |
I hope you can get rid of them! |
I hope some of the information you've gotten will help you out. |
