Grooming question... Sarge has a few small mats (probably from the 2 golden retrievers showering him in spit. lol.:D ). There are maybe 5 through out, all smaller than the top of a pencil eraser. What is the best way to get them out? Should I just bathe him and soak him with detangler and try to brush/comb them out? Or, as they are very small, should i trim them out? I really want to let his hair grow long, but he still has this awkward puppy coat. Any advice? |
Hi do you have one of those metal degantling swivel combs they are GREAT and works wonders, whe removing mats just hold the hair and not just pull out to avoid hurting the pooch. I have to use it constantly on Bandit with all the fur he has, scooby is shaved down and I love it so:D |
I have a comb for tangles. If you go and ask in the petstore im sure they will tell you. I don't know the name of it sorry |
mats I was unprepared when my baby lost her puppy coat and she tangled real fast under her winter sweater. I bath them... then put human Nexxus Humectruss on them.... rub it in...leave on for 5 min.... then use an old fashion black ace come and comb them out.... if they are worse than that I use VO5 conditioning cream (in a tube) it is like vaseline but never fails to work! |
Try Silk Spirits (http://www.chrissystems.com/silk.htm) to prevent this from happening. It is a wonderful product. It takes only a drop in the palm, rub your hands together and smooth all over the pup. You can do this on a wet or dry coat but I prefer it on a wet coat. |
