Poop Cleanup Ariel is now 4 months old, and is doing pretty well with eliminating on pads. But, she still hasn't broken the habit of eating her own poop  We've tried pineapple, as others have suggested, and the vet gave us some For-Bid [$8 for a tiny packet ! ] We haven't had any success with any of them  I'm at the point where I can only hope that she grows out of it as she gets older. Occasionally, I don't get to her pad on time after she had just finished going #2. When I do come back, I see some of her poop on the pad, some on the carpet, and she might even carry some onto her bed ... YUCK! I toss the bed into the washer, but am not too sure on how to go about cleaning the carpet. Her poop is well formed, and does not leave any stains. My question is, when your dog makes the occasional accident on your carpet, how do you go about cleaning it up? Do you just pick it up, flush it down, and be done with it? Scrub the spot? Anything? I usually steam vacuum the spot, but it's such a hassle bringing it upstairs and waiting for the spot to dry. |
I pick Rockies up off the tile with tissue. You Know I never realized until now; he just tee tees on the carpet, never poops:p I use natures miracle on my carpet for the tee tee:animal36 :animal36 |
Try putting some cayenne pepper or tabasco on the poop before its eaten. |
London's a yr old and still eats her poop:mad: |

I'm hoping this stops too...I have the 3 other dogs in the house, none of them have ever done this, they smell it, put their noses up and walk away, not ms ginger..:( You asked about the cleaning it up off carpets..Well, I usually just pick it up and throw it down the toilet, but, you know, if you really look(like when it's been on the linoleumin the laundry room) it does leave a little greasy spot, so, I'm sure, they know exactly by smell(like urine) where they've gone before..I've always used natrues miracle, but, Mom swears about this other stuff from www.advanage.com she said it was a degreaser(citrus), but also good for everything else..I went to the website, didn't see that, but did see their stuff for pet stains(expensive, but, I think you get 2 refills and a black light(don't know if I really want that or not), anyway, I'm thinking of trying that..has anyone else heard of it? |
I myself needed info on poop eating and cleaning. TY. It is starting to cause a riff between me and my hubby. He loves Romeo but it gets to the point where it makes my hubby sick. Really sick to where he gags and gets sick. I don't find it so pleasing myself, but I have worked with the mentally challenged for 24 yrs so nothing really bothers me. I hate it when hubby gets so mad and calls him names. I try to get there first but hubby has him 3 nights a week when I work. I will be trying anything I can to stop this. I will keep ya posted on both. LOL. Romeo is 31/2 months old, is he old enough for to give these porducts to? I also had a shih-tzu who never did this, but I did get hookworm in my foot and I walked around outside barefoot. The dr. said that where I could of gotten it. From dog poop. Now I just clean up the floor with lestoil and spray with lysol.:dogprints So watch where ya walk. :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa |

Deiter never has done the eating part. But when he is sick and goes on the floor I pick it up then clean it with Nature's Miracle Good Luck |
the potty mouth tablet I got seemed to help with the eating part, not the "playing" part...I have just decided to check all the time to make sure there is none for her to play with...I think I may try this new stuff, more expensive than natures miracle, but, lately natures miracle doesn't seem to be working as well... |

You can pretty much set a clock by Zoey. She goes at almost the same time every day. I feed her at the same time every day. Keep track of the times and see if yours has a schedule. If I dont notice she did it, she comes to tell me. She likes to watch me fold up the pee pad and seal it in a plastic bag. Then she goes to the closet door where the fresh pads are kept and waits for me to put down the new one. Come to think of it, she is pretty bossy! |
