Shampooing schedule question After seeing the posts about what shampoo to use, I have a question about how often to shampoo. This is my first Yorkie and Harley seems to like to get a bath. His hair is sooo soft after he is dry. He's such a little snuggler. I thought maybe every 3 weeks would be a good start. How often do you shampoo your yorkie? Also, when do you start having their hair trimmed? Thanks in advance! |
Welcome to YT!:) I bathe mine once a week. I know some do every 2 weeks. Just find the right balance between stinky and overwashed and itchy.:p As far as trimming, I would start taking him to the groomer as soon as he's had all of his shots. Good luck!:) |
Welcome to YT! I only give Meka a bath once a week and take a washcloth to her face daily... If we go outside a lot during the week, than I'll bathe her twice in a week. They too can get dry skin... so just be sure not to over do it with the bathes, especially if you've got a baby... :) |
I give a bath weekly and I also wash their face daily to get those eye boogies:D |

We bath our two once a week. Maggie occasionally gets twice a week depending what she gets into. They both get a wipedown with a wash cloth every night. |
Welcome to YT. You are lucky your baby likes bath.... Mine doesn't like bath but she gets bath once a week.... But if your baby's hair or skin gets dry, do less frequently. Mine seems to be fine with once a week. I comb her every day and wipe her face every day. Clean her butt every time she goes to do her business, wipe her paws every time she goes to outside. Have you post your baby's picture??? I'd love to see some!!! |
Lucy goes to the groomer every two weeks-once is a bath only then once for clipping, etc. but I also wipe her feet and face everyday. |

what I do I give mine a bath everytime they stink... which w/ my girls is about once a week... w/ my boys.... 2wice a week. When they are crate training... if they poop in it... there goes another bath. I wish I could afford grooming all the time... but I groom once every 6mo... and do the upkeep in between myself....her ear hairs grow fast...on the tip and so I clip those... plus no groomer gets it right.... how the books say the ears are suppose to be clipped. I keep my babies booty's shaved so poop never cakes up....I'm a little neurotic at the thought of poop in my house.... I should wipe them down nightly. Do ya'll just use a washcloth or soap or babywipes? My boys LOVE baths... my girls HATE... HATE... HATE them! |
i give Avie a bath every 1-2 weeks. (2 weeks is really stretching it though.:rolleyes:) she has alot of hair..but is mostly kept inside-except for when we take her out(walks, etc.) we use mink sheen shampoo..and i would say her bath depends on how dirty she is and/or if we have something going on and she needs to be all pretty and clean..haha.:p;) so i would say every week and a half. |
oh yeah.. i do clean her face up though and brush her daily, etc.;) :D |
We do eyeboogers every day, wash faces every 2-3 days and a dunk in the tub every weekend. Mine are stinky :D |
