I'm so upset I just called a breeder earlier. She seemed pretty rude. I was asking questions about her puppy and parents, but she seemed to be offended. She asked if I was a breeder, which I am not and have no intentions on breeding. I though I was doing a smart thing by asking questions. Why would she get so offended? Her tone of voice didn't sound so nice. I am so angry... She probably was surprised that I know what I was doing and that I knew a lot about the Yorkshire terrier breed. |
be careful when they are like that. I was supposed to get my baby on Nov. 27th ... and now the "breeder" is playing games with me ... saying the price is going up b/c she was the only female ... she did not tell me that before ... you would think she would have been aware of that small fact before <????> I am so sad ... ask MANY questions .... |
Well, if she doesn't want to take time to answer questions, then that should show you that she's not the one you want to buy from. Where did you get her name from? |
That doesn't sound good. :( I would think most reputable breeders would be thrilled to answer the questions and know that you are a responsible owner that has done her research about the breed. If I were a breeder that is who I would want my puppies going to. |
I had a couple breeders be really rude to me when I was looking for Pumpkin. I had several give me the kinda I'm not interested in talking to you if you're not serious attitude. I had one lady start the conversation by saying that we'd have to pay the whole amount upfront...I was like yeah well thanks but you sound a little sketchy- I'll take my money elsewhere! Are you buying a pup online? That's what we did with Pumpkin- she's absolutely adorable and we love her to death but I wouldn't recommend it- her personality is a little too rambunxious for what I wanted and I'm not sure the breeder was quite honest about her size! Anyway definitely find a different breeder- if the breeder's not nice to you- how do you think she'll be with her puppies??? |
Move on the another breeder. A good breeder will welcome your questions and have lots of her own. Any breeder who is evasive and won't answer your questions is probably not a reputable breeder. |
Breeder should be happy to answer any questions, if they truly are in it for good intentions! I say keep looking:rolleyes: |
I agree with everyone else. If she is acting like she doesn't want to answer your questions, or gets snappy when you do, I would stay far, far away. A good breeder EXPECTS their buyers to ask questions - this should make them feel good, NOT bothered or annoyed. Something's fishy here  :thumbdown |
You did the right thing. You had every right to ask about the parents,The breeder of the little girl that I am going to get has both of her parents and directed me to them, as their photos are on her website. Please do not feel offended and good luck with your search. My breeder has several pups available, great guarentee, if you dont mind your baby being shipped, please pm me @ I can give you the name. |
She should be happy you were interested in one of her puppies and be happy to answer any of your questions and in turn have questions for you. She doesnt sound like a breeder I would want to deal with |
I would move on, they should be then happy to talk about there babies, When i was looking for my aunt a few weeks ago, I had a couple of rude ones to, I just thanked them and moved on. Good luck to you:) The lady we did get her from was more then friendly and we visted for about an hr and 1/2 before we decide;) |
any breeder that will not be polite and answer your questionss is not even worth talking to. Sure, as a breeder, I know it gets tedious at times. I deal with it every day and have learned which ones are really interested in buying and which ones aren't? But, I try to be nice and open to everyone. i hope you have better luck with your next breeder. |

I wouldn't buy a pup from someone who wouldn't answer my questions. Good breeders welcome questions. |

Sounds like maybe she has something to hide. It generally impresses breeders and is preferred that prospective owners ask questions and have knowledge about Yorkies. I would keep looking.:) |
I did get scammed Well same thing happened to me, I bought the yorkie for a said amount, with breeding rights..paid good money for her, then she got tiffed at me as she wanted to sell me a male, but no pictures, then the male was sold, oh, so I questioned that, then she went on to tell me how her co breeder found a male just for my girl...then it really did not make sense at all. then why sell him until I looked at a picture and asked my questions..then it was well buy him right now...then ....I felt I was at an auction, told her this...well I guess that pissed her off (her words) and the next thing I know I am getting nasty notes and bogus emails her pretending to be some one else..when I knew it was her and told her so, and I was not about to play games, she sent me an email saying, if you want her papers, I want 200 more dollars..I paid 2,200 for her..have all the emails and such in case I ever needed to have them.. Now she came on here trying to sell puppies...I was not impressed... I think she is a little nuts myself...something is not right with some one who claims to be a good breeder then pulls these stunts...but what goes around comes around...it might take time, but it does... pooh's mum pooh's mum |

Yea I would find someone else for sure. The breeder I got my Ittybit from was very helpful. And welcomed all my questions. SHe told me all about both parents. Showed me the mother (she didn't own the father). Where the dogs stayed (her house in a bed room). I stayed there for 2 hours talking and playing. She told me the food she used and why. And even sent a care package with toys. I made sure I wasn't dealing with a puppy mill kinda thing. Oh and she asked me questions as well :-) A good breeder is going to want a good home for her babies. |
She sounds sketchy.. |
