yorkies good for the soul I volunteer at a nursing home every Sunday. A lot of the residents there are neglected and rarely gets any visitation from family members. Bella and Teddy goes with me. At first they were timid cause the wheelchairs appear like giant mobile robots. Luckily, they've gotten used to it. Not everyone are dog lovers there, but most adore the two yorkies. The smile those furbabies put on the faces of those elderlys are priceless. They call it "pet therapy" there. How can you not feel happy seeing two small furry big ears babies running around in dresses and sweaters? Holiday is around the corner. Please share your furbabies with someone in need. =) |
How wonderful:love:! I'd love to do something like that, but don't the dogs have to have some kind of certification to visit a nursing home? I don't know if my two would be well behaved enough:rolleyes: They're spoiled rotten:laugh: |
awww that is so sweet of you! I bet they adore your babies! You and your little ones are great people for bringing joy to them! |

Not sure what the rules are where you live but here in Northern California, as long as your babies have all their shots and you are tested negative for TB, you are qualify to volunteer. I mentioned it makes them happy to see the yorkies but I forgot to mention I get as much satisfaction out of it. :) |
That is so sweet. When my grandmother was in hospice last year, I brought the dogs and we went visiting one day. They really lifted the spirits of many there. I really should look at taking them on a regular basis. I'm glad you make time to share your dogs |
I would love to take my two to visit my grandma in the nursing home, but I thought you had to have some sort of certification. They have dogs come in weekly to cheer people up, and I know my grandma looks forward to it! |
I worked as a STNA for almost 10 years. And I tell you, the smile a little dog being placed on their laps are beautiful! Their eyes would light up and it is also very good for them mentally. It brings a lot of them back to their younger years. I heard several stories from my wonderful residents over the years after being around peoples animals they brought to the nursing homes to visit. Very heartwarming. :) |
