hi!how do you measure the patterns for the dress? |
That sounds so cute!!! Part of me wishes that Dash was a girl.. that way I'd have even more of an excuse to dress him up!!! I DO have a 4th of July bandana, but it's just not the same as a cute little dress!!! Can't wait to see pictures!!! |
I bet that is too cute. I can't find anything for Sophie to wear on the 4th of July. Not even a bow. I am going to have to start sewing. Can't wait to see a pic. |
Thanks everyone! DocShe! It is really easy to make a pattern. That is what I did! You just make an under body first. I put it on the fold so arm holes would be the same on both sides. It's just a straight piece of material that wraps around them, and I put velcro down from the neck to the chest, and then one down to the end of the belly. I should just velcro the whole piece. Make sure you have enough material to fold under for the velcro. So, what you have is a piece wrapped around the body from neck to lower belly. with a hole in it for the legs. Then put lace around the neck and arm holes. Then gather a skirt and attach it just under the arm holes. I put lace on the bottom of the skirt, and gather in two places--lined up with arm holes--for a scoop like bottom. Then I put bows on the top of the scoop, and a big bow at the waist. Does this make sense? The first part is also the top of the skirt. Once you make the pattern out of newspaper, it is easier then heck. On the body piece, I have to angle one side of it so it doesn't hang. Let me know if you need more help! I drew a pic. of the dress, but can't seem to get it on here. Computer illerate! At any rate, my dog weighs 3#1oz. The material is placed with the middle back on the fold measures : 7 inches at the top---the neck--- 10 inches down the side --- the arm holes measure 2 1/2 inches in diameter. and the start of the arm hole is 2 inches from the top. It is like a rectrangle. You can angle the bottom opening to fit her after you cut it out. If your dog weighs more, just make it bigger! Pat |
Sorry, but I will add to that! Turn down a hem at the neck. The arms, I just put the lace on with a zigzag stitch, and when she wears it it is perfect! Pat |
LOL! :D This is such a tease that we can't see the pics yet. I bet Snoodles will be adorable. :p |
