oh, NO! I forgot to put it away I had bought a loaf of 7 grain bread today & didn't put it away when I got home. I forgot about it, and it was sitting in a sack on a chair. I just found it .... after Roxie did and she had eaten probably over 1/3 of the loaf after chewing thru the plastic. Oh, she must have a tummy ache. Her tummy is all distended. Do you think there is anything I can do to help her right now? Should I avoid feeding her in the morning? I feel horrid that I did this. I'm sick - had been to the doctor today & was diagnosed with strep & when I went to the store to have my prescription filled I picked up a few groceries, including the bread. I've been a slug all day, because I feel so gross. But how could I forget about the bread??!! |

ahhh...i hope she is feeling ok! bless your heart!!! i'm sure there are worse things she could have gotten into. not that it makes it any better. but i'm sure she will be ok. i'm sure other people on here know better than me. but i imagine it would be ok. maybe a belly ache from all that yeast but other than that, i'm sure it will all pass very quickly. i hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!! |
I don't have the clinical answer either ;) but I do have a lot of sympathy and can totally see how that would happen. The bread would have a lot of grain and carbs in it, so any sensitivity to grains might lead to a belly ache. But I can't imagine that it could really be harmful. Poor baby. But don't feel bad about it. And I hope you feel BETTER soon! |
ok, now I'm checking Bubba too - he seems too full in the tummy too! So they apparently both got into it!! But maybe that means that Roxie didn't eat as much as I thought. I just counted & there are about 8 pieces gone from the loaf. At least it's a reduced calorie bread - but all those grains!! Ugh, I hope they don't have any accidents - I just put them outside. They may be going all night long! |
Hope you feel better soon. I don't think there is much you could do for her right now. |
(I know how you feel as I have a sore throat just now as well !) If I were you I would be worried about the bread expanding and formenting in your dog's stomach ! How is she ? Is she moaning ? The bread might lodge and get stuck like a stone in her intestines. You might be better to phone your vet and ask for advice as this could make your Yorkie very ill indeed  I hope she will be ok...normally I'd suggest water - but with bread I'd be worried this would make it expand even more and cause more problems....phone someone for advice;) Let us know how she gets on....good luck, Debra x x x x |
i'm sure they will be ok. just keep an eye on their potty needs and it will all pass in a day or 2 max :) my cocker gets into stuff all the time. she can find a needle in a haystack if she wanted to!!!! she usually has a few good poo's and then it is like it never happened LOL i've been very lucky with her. she has gotten into some stuff that I swore would do her in. but she is tough :) |
Oh good - you have now said that you think the other dogs got some too, so hopefully between them they didn't have much....in that case...give them lots of water, with maybe just a bit of milk in it, so they drink it, and hopefully that will flush it all out....but if you think any of them had lots, I would check with a vet by phone for advice;) |
Awww, we've all been there. I hope you feel better soon and don't have to deal with upset tummies while you're sick. I would think they would be fine though. |

I hope your Roxie is fine .... high fiber content? they may be pooping real soon and fast!!! i hope you feel better also .... |
I can't believe they ate all that bread! I don't think Lacy would touch bread LOL...although my parents yorkie, Rylie, eats anything in sight. Hope everything comes out okay |
I am sure they will be fine but perhaps you keep them confined to the kitchen or laundry room for easier clean up? Angel gets into everything and if she can't reach it she is trying to figure out how to... |
