clothes So I've been on here for a minute and noticed that a lot of you like to put clothes on your yorkies. I know that the little ones get real cold, and can understand the coats and sweaters, but admittedly, the rest of the attire is for "us", not them. From the pictures it looks like some of your little Divas KNOW they are dressed up and love it. From the pictures, it looks like some of them are even posing. I went to target last night after looking at this board all day, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy Mika anything. She won't even keep her bows in and bites her leash, so I know what a disaster clothes will be. I guess what I want to know from some of you who have the little dainty ones, how do they like their clothes??? And feel free to throw a few pictures in as well. |
As bad as I hate to admit it....I think Buddy hates clothes!!!!!:( :( :( I love to put clothes on him but he does not seem very happy when he has them on!! He has lots of clothes but they are really a waste of money. I bought him so many new outfits this week....which he will probably never wear!! I keep hoping he will grow to like clothes. |
1 Attachment(s) Willow loves clothes!!! She's very used to them, and has no problem with me putting them on or taking them off. She love t-shirts, and sweaters when it's cooler. I think she likes being toasty. She has a raincoat and everything. Here's a pic of her Halloween 2006. She was like this all night with no fuss! Quote:

Bitsy doesn't care one way or the other. When she has clothes on, she acts no different than when she's nakey. The only thing she does hate is the putting on of the clothes. She just hates to hold still, even for a second. Funny enough, as much as she doesn't like me putting on her clothes, she squirms even worse when I take it off. |
Kodak hate clothes, Kamari doesn't mind them.:) |
Bella doesn't mind clothes at all, but I don't think she will ever be a poser. She manages to get out of them after a while but I don't think its on purpose I think its just cause she is little and wiggly. |
3 Attachment(s) I have to chirp in on this one lol. Muffy loves her clothes!!!! All I have to do is go to her dresser and say lets get dressed. She will come running, As I am putting them on if there is something her leg has to go through she will try to do it herself. If its cold she will scratch on the dresser till I got something warm for her. Now the cat hates when I put bows in Muffies hair. She will take it out. LOL its funny to watch. I need to send it in to Funniest Videos. Here are a few pictures. |
Mine are starting to get use to them, but majorty of the time they help each other take them off! |
Meka doesnt mind the clothes at all... I think she likes em' actually... Now the bows are another story :) |
Neither of mine mind clothes but I dont dress them everyday except in the winter when I put their hoodies on |
I'll be honest...the clothes are TOTALLY for ME! But it does get quite cold here in the winter, so, there's a real purpose for them now. At first Tobi would try to bite the shirts to pull them off..now he's relented. I think he actually LIKES wearing some shirts sometimes because he'll refuse to go outside to do his business if he's not wearing a shirt (for warmth). Take the plunge and do it! Your fur kid will get used to it in due time :p |

I was like you in the beginning when I got Archie -- I SWORE I would never dress my dog up, except for sweaters for outside. Well, he got here and he was really cute and I just happene to see a little blue snowflake print shirt and bought it. He had a fit when I first put it on, but got used to it a little more each time I put it on him. People started giving me things for him and I bought more. Today, he LOVES to put on his clothes. If he sees me with a little shirt in my hand he jumps onto my lap and almost puts his head in the opening to help me get it on him! |
Like, Akhong, the clothes are really for me. Noah never has seem to mind me "dressing" him up. The only outfit he hates is his rain coat. When he sees it he knows it is raining outside and he doesn't like getting wet. He doesn't mind his hair bows but my elder dog does! She always pulls them off Noah first chance she gets. lol |
Rockie does not like clothes, jackets or anything on him:rolleyes: Since its getting cold, I try to keep him warm. He is 6 months, so I figure he will adjust:p |

clothes All 7 of mine love their clothes...i don't dress them up daily...but they all sit still and i can put them on and they are fine...none of them try to get them off at all...i also put them on their babies to get them use to them before they go to new homes....bows are never a problem either...one thing i haven't tried yet are the shoes....not sure what mine would do...i see alot of pics with them on...i think mine might freak a little...but if mommie makes them wear them...they will for a minute...lol |
3 Attachment(s) Slade will fight me when I'm putting o his clothes, but once they're on he likes them and doesn't mess with them. Its the same thing with bows. Mom's yorkie mix Schatize LOVES clothes. If she sees us with any of her clothes in our hands, she comes runnng for us to put them on her. My pit bull LOVES her clothes, but I dn't have much for her, just a couple polos and a cheerleading outfit. |

Lacy wears clothes every day. Of course I buy the outfits more for me than her...I just love them. She has a lot of clothes. I think wearing clothing is just so normal to hear because she always has clothes on. She's just her normal self in bows and clothing and is a happy girl. I think she likes being dressed. Now my parent's yorkie, he hates clothes. |
Both of my yorkies love their clothes they sit still while I put them on and Emma my 11 month old doesn't even mind bows, now Tia on the other hand takes them out as soon as I put them in most of the time:rolleyes: . Now my Schnauzer goes nuts over clothes if you ask her if she wants to put one on or show one to her she starts dancing around and barking once we put it on her she just prances around it is the cutest thing ever :p |
Dressing the furkids is totally all about me. It makes me happy to see them in their cute outfits! But functionally, there is a place for coats/rain gear/ect when you own a small breed like this. I see most dog owners w/at least a winter and rain jacket for their small dogs regardless if they dress them any other time. I think the key to getting a dog to like wearing clothes (or tolerate it), is to make sure the clothes are comfy number one, and number two start when they are young for small periods of time. Give lots of treats while you are dressing them and while the outfit is on :) |
Thanks Breny. If you can't tell from the pic, she is just a wee bit spoiled, lol. |
4 Attachment(s) Mocha doesn't mind wearing clothes. He doesn't get super excited when he sees me grabbing his shirt or jacket, but he also doesn't hate them or try to get them off (as long as they aren't too huge on him). It's very easy to dress and undress him most of the time. The only time he'll put up a fight is if I put them on while he has a burst of energy and just wants to play. Oh, he also didn't like his halloween costume....I think he felt silly in it :p |

I don't have many clothes for Snickers or Joy. Just little shirts and some sweater to keep them warm in the cold. Neither seem to mind the clothes on themselves; however, for some reason Joy just hates seeing Snickers with clothes, bandannas, hats, anything. She will chase him around til she pins him down and keeps pulling on them trying to get them off. I don't know how to stop her doing this. I ususally end up taking off whatever Snickers has on so Joy won't hurt him. He's 3 lbs, she is 5 lbs. Maybe she's just a little hussy and likes him naked!! Don't know, but sure is a bummer 'cause I think the clothes are cute. |
Thanks :) I love it because the hoodie keeps him nice and warm. I just wish it had sleeves though. With the cold weather we're having right now, he's going to need some full snow suits soon  Quote:
