Harnesses I am thinking about investing in harnesses for my Yorkies because many people keep posting that if you walk them with collars they can get collapsed tracheas. Well, I really don't want that to happen, so I am going to get some harnesses. M question is, what kind do I get? They have some at PetsMart like the "Lil' PawTM Adjustable Harness for Petite Dogs". They also have some at PetCo. I know that some of you have bought really cute ones on the internet, but I don't buy things off of the internet because my mom hates to give out her credit card number. So, where do I get my harnesses for Riley and TJ? |
1 Attachment(s) This is the kind of harness Tatum has... I just did a quick search for a "step-in dog harness" and got this picture. I don't remember where I ordered it. Maybe you can find this kind in stores, I'm not sure. What I like about it is that they just step into it and it closes at their back - instead of having to put their head through a little loop. Just easier - and doesn't mess up her topknot! :D Doesn't look like this picture is showing up... try clicking on it anyway.... haven't posted any pics on a message in a while..... Try this link also... http://www.pawshop.com/stdogha.html |
Thanks Angie. That looks like a great harness. I will see if I can find it at a store. |
I have one like that for Cookie and I got it at Petsmart. Cookie is almost 7lbs and I got a size small and it fits great. If your Yorkie is smaller you might want to try an xtra small first. |
I got both of mine at Pet Smart.....the adjustable ones... At first the x-tra small adjustable was much too big for Lil Bit...I got a ferret harness and used it for a while.... But now she fits the other one just fine.....and now Lil Bit and Apple have matching harnesses>>>>> Now, I am looking for a snap/clip to put 2 dogs on one leash.....the only thing at PetSmart is WAY TOO HEAVY for these little girls.....they would both just lean into one another and never be able to walk!!! |
I'm glad you started this thread. :D A few minutes ago I was looking at this harness and wondered what everyone thought about it. I never used a collar on Muffin; just harnesses. I'm trying to teach Kacee to walk on a leash right now and she does really well on pavement, but when we go out in the grass she goes wild. I need opinions on this harness, please...it's at the bottom of the page. http://barkavenuepetboutique.com/cgi...xi_harness.jpg |
That's the same harness I use for Jo (the one in the first post) and it's great...it fits securely and doesn't put pressure in any unwanted places. I got his at a small pet supply store here...I think I got the extra small one. I keep it attached to his flexi-lead and lay it on the floor when it's time to go out...he's learning to step into the harness...it's so cute, he tries so hard! Just make sure you put it on the right way (the tag goes on the left) or it fits kind of wierd and they'll walk funny! |

I think that's the exact one that I bought but I can't remember (the 1st harness mentioned above). I'm at work now but if you want I can check when I get home. It's very easy to use and Cookie hasn't had any rubbing problems with it. |
