Thanks all. Actually, her name isn't "Penny Lane" - that's our "kennel Name" (of sorts anyway since we don't breed). There's two stories here. First - Penny's registered name is "Durrer's She's Like a Flower" It was supposed to be "Durrer's We Saved our Pennies" We've had MANY yorkies over the years, but most were rescues and all were pet quality. When mom retired, I promised her a show dog. So we bought a huge piggy bank and saved and saved and saved. When we heard that there was a tiny golden-haird B-ch and a DURRER dog, we knew her name had to be "Penny." Unfortunatly, our breeder had already registerd her with the CKC and AKC would not allow us to change her registration papers . . .so her show name is not anything like her call name. We decided on "penny lane" - first in honor of Penny, of course but also because the Beatles were from the North of England - where Yorkies are from, and Penny Lane is IN England. |

Thank you all guys . . hey could we start a writing campaign to all the AKC Yorkie judges!? lol. Everyone invited to our house for the coat cut down party! I think even Penny will rejoyce the day that comes! Still, it gives me so much pride to see her looking like that! (notice that my own hair is blowing off the sides of my head? :eek:) |

Congrats on that gorgeous coat - and a gorgeous girl - I would love to see her pics after you cut her down ...After all that work - you are going to Cry ....but I bet she's just beautiful with shorter hair too - She is really stunning in her picture ! |

Penny It is so discouraging to have a quality show potential and have the judges pass you by. I don't want to discourge anyone from showing, but it can take time for the judges to start looking at the correct end of the lead...get my meaning? Their first glance is forwards who is holding the lead..and that's okay. We just have to beat them at their own game and bring in a big gun of our own. When you do finish Penny and you will..band her hair and save it. I have a couple of my champions hair in boxes..I look at those long bundles of hair and can still smell them. My Chopper boy is 14 now and retired in his pet home. It is a small piece of him that will be with me forever. |

Thank you. And its obvious that Yorkie Rose truly empathizes - I bt you have your OWN war stories. Just a note - I've taken your advice to heart. Will be putting Penny with a handler for some of the majors! |
