Update On The 18 Seized Dogs In Texas Judge Orders Seized Dogs Turned Over to County Scott Lawrence November 6, 2007 - 11:48AM Del.icio.us | Digg | Print Story | E-Mail Story | Font Size A justice of the peace has ordered 18 dogs seized from their owner turned over to Jefferson County in advance of their being placed for adoption. Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson made the decision during a court hearing Tuesday morning. Deputies seized the dogs last Tuesday, including miniature Yorkshire Terriers and Pomeranians, from a building and recreational vehicle on property off Highway 365 in Fannett. Deputies say the dogs were in poor condition. They were brought to the Animal Control Office on Pine Street. Judge Chesson ordered the owner, George O. Adams, to pay a fine of $7,513.80. Adams apologized for the inconvenience to deputies who had to investigate the case, and for his inability to care for the animals. Adams said his inability to properly care for the dogs is due to ongoing medical problems. The dogs will be placed for adoption within about two weeks.
