Summer cut question?? HELP Bailey is 1 and he is getting groomed Sat. my question is,,,, Is the puppy cut shaved or just cut short on the back... He still has alot of black on his back and I can see the silver under..so i know it will look alot different to cut all the black... But do they shave it all short or just cut it close,, and do they leave the fur on the legs longer.. Or are they all different? I wanna keep his face long, but trimmed, but he is so hot so I dont know about the back what to ask for?? :confused: |
Just tell the groomer exactly what you want and make sure they understand you. I think the puppycut can depend on where you are. We have Yoda shaved down from his neck back, but we left his face with a lot of hair, and his paws/legs have longer hair too, so the legs sort of look like boots. :) In the summer, we keep Yoda shaved down and in the fall/winter, we let it grow out more. |
I've seen the puppy cut also referred to as the Westie cut. You could find a picture of exactly what you want and take it with you. :) |
We just got Chachi and Jewels puppy cuts. They left the face a little long just evened it out. The body was shorter and the legs had a little length. They both look like teddy bears. |
Thanx fasteddie!! Im thinkin' thats what I'll tell her... first I'll ask what her version of the Puppycut is,,, and see, then tell her mine! HOpefully I wont be too shocked when I pick him up! I know he'll be cooler and thats what I want! |

There are soo many cuts for yorkies. There is a breeder that owns a boutique/grooming salon a little ways from me and she showed me her pet girls cut. She had SHAVED all the blue off and kept all the blond long.including all her facial furnishings. I think this is a great cut if you keep your dog in clothes like she did. it looked like the little girl was in long flowing coat. I thought it was ingenious.I honestly considered that cut for mine that I want to look like they have the long yorkie hair but don't want the tangles when they wear tshirts and sweaters. It sounds horrible but it looked PERFECT!! |

I've got an appointment for Kacee July 13th (I think that's right) and I'm going to have her done in a puppy cut. That's the way I did Muffin's for most of her life. She hated her hair long and she was very hot-blooded. I did Muffin's myself, but she was calm. After Kacee calms down a bit, I'll probably do her myself, too. :cool: |

Jewels cut looks exactly like Bellas. On Chachi she left everything a little longer. They both looked good. |

I would definely get to know your groomer, that way you will trust them to do a good job and work well with your pup!!! We keep the girls in puppy cuts during the summer, as it is really hot here, all we do is go into our groomer and she knows exactly what we want...she loves our girls and knows them so well, that the girls actually love going to see her!!! |
Can I slip a dumb question in? Does everyone else's yorkie have hair on the lower belly? I noticed Stitches refer to it and that's what made me think about it. Muffin didn't have anything but peach fuzz in her ear canals or on her lower belly. Kacee has hair in her ear canals and lots of it on her lower belly. :confused: |

aahhh!!! I'm glad to hear you guys like Bella's cut as much as I do! Its been a couple of days since the cut and her hair has grown out a little bit more and it looks really cute. She really looks like a teddy bear! |
My boy is going to the groomer in the morning and I'm scared to death...I've been reading everything I can here...we aren't going to do much to start..more like a trial run! |
Thanks for all the tips. I want to get Gwen's done too, but now that I have a picture of Bella, I can take it to the groomers to me to show them what I want. |
