New Yorkie Owner with Questions Hi Group - I am new to the group, and new to own a Yorkie. I have been wanting one for a very very long time. I just purchased one this pasted weekend. There are a couple of issues. First, I purchased her after only looking at her for 10 minutes or so, and trusted the prior owners. They said she was almost 3 years old, but her CKC papers say that she was born in 2002, and registered in 2006. Does that mean anything to anyone? Also, she is so "skiddish". She won't let me hold her, she is not affectionate at all. When described to me over the phone, the prior owners said that she was the perfect loving lap dog. Is this a normal transition? I have been told that since she is so old, she is set in her ways, and probably won't lighten up to me and my family. Second thing, we got her as a family pet, not for breeding, but if I did decide to breed her, is she to old? How old is to old to breed a yorkie? I really want to bond with this dog, are there any suggestions? Is it to late for her to be sent to any sort of training school? Thanks so much, Joni Burkett Tennessee |
I just wanted to say Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Congratulations on your first yorkie!! can't wait to see a picture |
You have only had her a few days, give her time. Put yourself in her position. She was just taken from the home she had known (and who knows how many homes prior), and now here she is, thrown into this new environment. She has a lot on her plate right now. Give her time and a little space, she might just warm up to you and the family, but she is probably a bit nervous right now. |
i have heard on here that it is not reccomened to breed a yorkie after 5or 6 years so yea i would say she is told old for that now but im not sure i'l let the breeders on here answer that for sure, and about her not warming up yet just give her some time she will adjust to you :D oh and one more thing welcome to yorkietalk your going to love it here:D |
oh and can you post a pick of your yorkie we would all love to see:D |
