Sprayed and Neutured How long did it take your dog to heal? I have 2 yorkies I'm not too sure which one I'm going to get fixed but Bacardi is a Male, he's 10 years old and Jasmine Chanel is Female and is 6 Months old Help me! I'm afraid that Bacardi the old man is too old, but I don't want him to cancer or loose his cute personality but then I think Jasmine because I don't want to deal with the mess but my aunt might want to use her for breeding in a year .. Which one would you fix?? |
Is your aunt an experienced breeder? Does Jasmine meet the Yorkie standard? Are you planning on doing all the necessary testing before breeding if you decide to do that? There is a lot that goes into breeding. Please don't take it lightly. In my opinion, it is more important for girls to be spayed then for boys to be neutered. Girls are at more of a risk for developing cancer and they can get a pyometra (uterine infection). If an infection occurs, the dog has to be spayed on an emergency basis. Males can also get cancer from not being neutered or just benign lumps. If you are going to spay your female, may I strongly suggest that you do it before her first heat because if you wait her chances of get mammary tumors get higher after first heat. My six-year-old just got spayed. The vet was concerned about her getting a pyometra. She came home the same day and could barely sit up. She ate in the middle of the night and was extremely tired the next day. A few days after that she was back to herself for the most part. It has been 12 days and you would never know anything happened to her. |

You should be. Both of my dogs were up and moving about the next day. It won't be completely healed after a day or two, but should be healed enough you can go back to work. |

Reece was neutered a few weeks ago and was back to himself within a couple days..he was a bit sore and couldnt play too much..but it hasnt changed his personality one bit.. Dawn |
a dog that is neutered, makes for a much better pet! I would also have them both spayed/neutered..of course, I feel that is the right thing to do..I always have mine does asap..the vet says 5 mos. I'm in there at 5 mos. Have never had a problem with any of them after their spay/neuter. My boy I picked up that evening, the girls, the vet always keeps overnight, although, I'm going to tell them when I have ginger done I want to pick her up that night..My little boy was back to normal the next day.. |
