Remember Remember the 5th of November Gunpowder, treason & plot! :( Well the fireworks have started already & it isn't even 3pm  To be honest they've been going off in some parts of the village for the last 3 nights! Poor dogs:( At least my old girl, who used to be frightened, is a bit deaf now & sleeping. But my bigger Skyes are terrified. The only two who aren't bothered are my two youngest yorkies. One's too busy playing with his squeaky, whilst the tiniest at 9 months old, everytime she hears a rocket going off, is charging into the garden barking like mad to tell it off ! :D |
I think fireworks should be banned from being purchased by the public and only organised displays allowed, would be alot safer and far fewer accidents. I call it 'firework fortnight' because they seem to go on for weeks not just a couple of nights anymore!:p I'm quite lucky in that they don't seem to bother my dogs too much, maybe being brought up around airbases has something to do with it! it must be awful if they do stress your pets out. |

The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 does not ring a bell from world history. Although the story is interesting I am not sure why they have to celebrate with fireworks...I HATE FIREWORKS!!! Let me clarify that i have home fireworks. The big far away shows are beautiful but when they sell them in neighborhoods, you are right, it goes on for weeks!! The sound is so annoying! Hoping your babies don't get too stressed out. Thankfully my Bella doesn't seem to mind them |
Thats how it is here around the 4th of july |
Kezza, I heartily agree. They should ban the sale of the things in the shops. They seem to get bigger & louder every year! :( It's celebrated by building bonfires & burning a stuffed figure on top, to represent Guy Fawkes. I suppose the fireworks were added because of the gunpowder. Mind you, could do with him sticking his barrels under this bunch we've got now in the Houses of Parliament :D |
I don't know what's worse here, 4th of July or New Year's eve for the homemade firework displays everyone must assume their neighbors want to hear. I hate finding the leftover firework debris all over my car and yard the next day too. I just don't see the use for it myself, aside from the obvious danger of blowing off body parts, burning yourself or starting fires, why waste your money to scare kids and animals for a big bang or a two second colored sparkle. |
