I could have strangled her... Now, I know this isn't about a Yorkie, but it's cruel all the same... I was on my way to work this morning (stuck in traffic) when I saw the most beautiful Irish setter out in his yard- with his not-so-beautiful owner. She was throwing tennis balls for him to run and get, but when I looked closer, his leash was still attached to his collar!!! He would run to get the ball and then not retrieve it... And the woman would start yelling at him! He was tripping on his leash and everything. RRRRRRGH! I wanted to say something to her but she was much older than me and would probably have given me the brush off. |
Oooooooooo I would of screamed something out of the car window. |
I know,,, I deal with this daily w/ my neighbor and his NEW WIFE, he has a weiner dog,, and she goes out to get him and YElls at him, and grabs him by the collar and drags him to the house,,, One day I was outside and she was yelling at him and I looked over and she said " This is his F---- dog, Not mine" How do you respond to that??!! I just gave her "THE " look and turned away,, she got my point,,, We have NEVER spoken and THAT is what she decideds to start out with??!! Im keeping an eye on her! |
I don't think that that is cruel... I have done that with Annie before. We live in an apt and therefore don't have a yard (with a fence). If I take her off her leash she runs hog wild and I can't catch her. I want to play fetch with her, but I am afraid that if I let her go without her leash she will run wild and I won't be able to catch her again... So we leave the leash on and then we play catch! :) Therefore she can still run around and if she tries to go to far I can still grab her :D |

He had the most SEVERE skin infection and was RAW over 1/2 of his body where you could SEE the muscle below the skin.....he huddled in a corner and they NEVER brought him in or gave him medical attention - I HAD to report that - they rescued him - treated him and I was told found a good home...YAY for the Houston Animal Cops ! If I ever saw someone really YANKING on their dog or severly reprimanding to the point of abuse - I think I'd end up making a call.... |

We use the leash trick on our big dogs as well. More so in the beginning though when we were trying to get a feel if they would listen or just bolt and never look back. Its much easier to catch the leash flying behind them than the dog themself. |
Out leash laws... We have leash laws here, so when we walk our dogs ( off of our property and not in dog specified parks ) we're supposed to keep them on a leash. We just drop the leash and let them run. If anyone comes by or says anything we act really appologetic and pretend that they "accidentally got away" from us. So mine are used to it, and they are really kind animals so they would never hurt anyone... When we got our Fiona, our little Eskie, she was so adorable. She would pick up her big brothers leash in her mouth and walk him. He just let her lead him around, and she strutted so proudly!! A fraction his size, but still the queen b****!! |
we have to leave the leash on rusty when we bring him out. i don't scream at him when he doesn't bring back. but he has to have his leash on or he will run. he won't really go anywhere but he runs around the house so we have to chase him and he is really really fast and can go forever |
Last night at Petco this couple came in carrying the most gorgeous white dog. I think it was a Maltese. Anyway, they proceeded to put the dog on the floor WITHOUT A LEASH. Next thing you know, the guy comes chasing him across the store, the automatic door opened and the dog ran outside. I almost had a heart attack as the dog headed towards the parking lot. He caught her, but get this, as he grabbed her and picked her up he said "stupid dog". Sounds more like "stupid owner" to me! |
