Curious :aimeeyork you know how wolves are in the wild. Only the Alpha female gets to breed. So if you take that theory and put it to use in the common breeding household. If say the Alpha female is no longer a breeder but is still the Alpha female but allows the second in command to breed. Would you think that the Alpha being Human and the second in command being canine that the second in command would wait for the Alpha to complete her cycle before going into heat. |
I can assure you that I have no idea. But I thought your question was so interesting. So since no one with any real answer has popped in yet, I thought I'd give your thread a bump. :) |
Thank you for the bump Diane. Other breeders I have posed this to don't think it's possible but who knows maybe someone with more experience has seen this. |
This is way over my head.;) |
Now that is a brain teaser. I don't know the answer but I think wolves are gorgeous animals. |
I don't know the answer either. The possibility of it came to mind because of several coincidences. My girl Maggie is in heat again. But here is the scenario that has happened twice. on the 11th of May she started spotting and then on the 15th my monthly started. 4 days later it stopped but during that time Maggie was not spotting or bleeding. It was like she just turned it off. Then on the 18th just as my monthly stops her heat cycle begins. Now to the present situation. She started spotting on the 24th of october but by the 27th she just stopped, and my monthly started and was done on the 31st. then her cycle started. So i started thinking about the possibilities of this occurring in a pack run household. I do know that the Alpha female in a wolf pack will give the Alpha male advance notice that she is getting ready to come into heat by bleeding a little. It is possible that some canines retain more of their Ancestors genes than others and they tend to show themselves in certain generations. Granted I am no expert or scientist just have a little too much time on my hands right now. |
