Baby Teeth? Piper is 15 weeks old now and I've had him for about 2 1/2 weeks, when does he begin to lose his baby teeth? And what should I look for when trying to determine if he is losing them and things are going wrong? I know they are prone to plaque buildup so should I be brushing with one of those little finger things? I have no clue as to when and what I should be doing for him :confused: Just don't want to screw him up. Thanks :) |
If I remember correctly Gucci started loosing her teeth around 4 months. I think should start brushing his teeth now so he start getting use to it. You can start using your finger and then the little finger brush. Gucci is almost a year old and she still have some baby teeth that hasn't fall out yet. When she gets spay the vet will pull those out. I havent spay Gucci yet cause she had a bad case of ringworm and the vet said that we need it to treat that first. It took almost 5 months for the ringworm to heal. Now we have being under a lot of financial problems so I was force to delay getting her spay. Good luck. |
You should brush their teeth as often as possible, every day when you brush the coat is a good idea. You should actually find teeth and see a little blood, but you can also examine the mouth everyday. If they still have baby teeth when the adult ones are all in you can have them pulled when he/she is altered so there is only need for anesthesia once. They also recommend a professional cleaning once ayear. I saved a tooth for the baby book!lol |
You should start brushing early, that way he gets use to it. I don't remember exactly when they start losing them but all of a sudden you will look at him and you will notice GOSH, He has no teeth!! You can not screw up, Just keep an eye on the incisors ( the long ones on either side, sometimes those don't fall out and have to be removed by your vet. Bell's did not fall out right away, the permanent teeth started to come in and they still didn't come loose, I was about to make an appointment and then one fell out, I waited another two weeks and the second one fell out also. Mine are 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 and still have not lost one tooth! I asked the vet and he told me that it should be 5 to 6 months. I can't wait to see their teeth so that I can save them!ALso, hope the biting calms down as well. |
